Product Manager - Restaurant Order Experience

As a Product Manager on Restaurant Order Experience, you will oversee end-to-end restaurant operations including receiving and accepting an order, preparing an order, and packaging and handing off the order to an eater or courier. This includes building technology that helps restaurant staff resolve when things go wrong, such as when the restaurant runs out of items, needs to close early inadvertently or for the holidays, is understaffed and overcapacity, or dealing with couriers who arrive too early or too late. You will own the design of a flexible platform across form factors including mobile, web, tablet, and POS integrations to ensure that all restaurants can provide eaters and couriers with world-class hospitality, consistent quality and reliability and a unique, differentiated Uber Eats experience. You will be responsible for crafting the product vision for this team, which ultimately, is how we might design the restaurant and kitchen of the future, and will work with a broad set of stakeholders across business development, sales, operations, data science, design, engineering and more to do so.

What you'll do

The world of restaurant operations is complex and ever-expanding. This is a representative sampling of the areas you might be tackling on the team:

  • Enhance the flexibility of our products across all form factors including mobile, web, tablet and POS integration to enable all restaurants - from the local food truck with a mobile phone to global POS-integrated enterprise restaurants - to seamlessly manage orders from Uber Eats
  • Enable restaurants to support all order types including scheduled orders, group orders, pick-up and dine-in orders in addition to standard delivery orders
  • Empower restaurants to create a high quality, reliable and differentiated eater and courier experience through actionable real-time insights for front-of-house and back-of-house when they need it the most
  • Build tools for restaurants to address when things go wrong such as when a restaurant is offline, a restaurant is out of an item, a restaurant is over capacity
  • Leverage data and machine learning to proactively identify when order experience issues can arise and prevent them from happening

What you'll need

  • Minimum 4-5 years experience delivering successful and innovative products with your fingerprints all over them
  • Technical savviness. Can manifest in different ways: a computer science undergraduate degree, hands-on software engineering experience, or experiences building complex software products side by side with engineers. Technical understanding must go from the highest abstractions down to the metal
  • Attention to detail. The ability to obsess over every single part of the food-making process
  • Customer obsession. The ability to take on complex product challenges and find elegant, simplifying solutions to avoid making them our users and partner's problems
  • Finger-tippiness with data. You find a way to get the data you need and whip it into an insightful story with no help. You know how to leverage this data to make decisions without getting stuck in analysis paralysis
  • A "Driver" mindset. You are biased toward action, a great collaborator, a master disambiguator/simplifier, and constantly pushing toward clarity and delivery
  • Grittiness. You never hesitate to roll up your sleeves and tackle something hands-on
  • A high bar across the board -- from your own contributions to the people you work with, to the products you work on
  • A true passion for Uber's mission, our products, and the company's hybrid technology/operations nature
  • A never-ending desire to grow and learn
