Risk Manager - Safety & Insurance

About the Role

This position will be a key member of the Latin America Insurance team based in Miami, FL. Our team manages solution design, implementation and program management of insurance for Uber drivers and couriers across 15 countries in Latin America. Our risk managers routinely work directly with senior executives and underwriters in our global insurance carrier partner companies.

The Insurance team has frequent interaction with colleagues in Ops, Legal, Public Policy, Claims, Actuarial, Business Development, Marketing and others. Our Risk Managers need to be adept in working with other functional areas and will be good ambassadors for S&I. Things move fast in Uber and we need talent that moves at Uber speed while focusing on delivering sustainable solutions and outcomes.

What You'll Do

• Enable our Business to Operate - Deliver compliant insurance solutions meeting regulatory requirements with all rides insured
• Support new business models and products (NEMO, Freight, HCV)
• Right Protection, Right Price - Optimize insurance spend, create trust and confidence by providing excellent support when an incident occurs and deliver fast and fair claims resolution
• Enhance our Business - Provide drivers and riders peace of mind while on the Uber app
• Expand/improve driver engagement through DIP, loyalty, and affinity
• Intensify relationships with key carrier partners and grow the business
• Streamline partner insurance requirements and solutions to improve funnel conversion
• Contribute to developing and maintaining new and renewal programs with a focus on auto liability and personal accident insurance
• Tackle new and innovative risks and lead the development of first of a kind insurance solutions, designed for Uber's business
• Establish, maintain and strengthen strategic carrier relationships across the Latin America region
• Develop and implement plans to improve program performance & value;
• Support Latin America country and regional operations teams on claims, public policy, marketing, strategy, and risk mitigation as it pertains to insurance.

What You'll Need

• 5+ years of Insurance industry experience as an underwriter, broker or corporate risk team member
• Demonstrated record of achievement in casualty insurance
• Exposure to a broad range of technical disciplines including product design, actuarial, claims, form development, tax and regulatory
• Exposure to developing new insurance products and programs
• Relevant Latin America regional experience with carrier and broker relationships
• Possess excellent business judgement, executive presence, communication and interpersonal skills
• Fluency in Spanish, oral and written, Portuguese is a plus

About the Team

While Uber invests heavily in safety and prevention, we also use insurance to take care when accidents happen. In addition, the Insurance team also supports business development efforts with consultations on aspects of risk management related to vendor agreements and service contracts. We also provide consultative support to Policy and Legal areas in relation to promotion of modern regulations for ridesharing in the countries where we operate.
