Technical Lead Manager, Business Intelligence - New Mobility

Data Science
in San Francisco, California

About the Role

We are looking for a proven Business Intelligence Manager to lead our global BI Team. The Business Intelligence Manager will lead a team of BI Analysts and be responsible for the design, implementation & support of our data systems, as well as leading deep dive analysis. You will work closely with business users, the Data Engineering team, and other data analysts to design and implement architecture, tools, and processes needed to provide "single source of truth" reports to support data-driven decision making.

The ideal candidate is an expert at working with large data sets, comfortable working in an agile environment, has experience working with UIs that make data accessible and consumable, enjoys the challenge of highly complex technical contexts, and above all, is passionate about data and analytics. A successful candidate will also have exemplary communication skills, and enjoy working in a dynamic team with many partners. Finally, candidates must be passionate people managers, excited to develop a team of analysts.

We need actionable insights, and not just reports. We want someone who can lead our overall efforts to distill knowledge from data that will help us decide what to build and how it should work. If this is your super power, and you want to help shape the future of global mobility, look no further.

What You'll Do

  • Manage a team of BI Analysts, coaching and developing them while ensuring we ship high quality work on time
  • Develop data solutions end-to-end, from gathering requirements from business stakeholders to partnering with Data Engineering and other analysts to implement
  • Define, instrument, and maintain new and existing business KPIs from scratch, leveraging SQL queries and beyond
  • Build and maintain ETLs, pipelines and automations to ensure we can understand and act on business performance accurately, scalably, with low latency, and minimal manual upkeep
  • Create actionable and user-friendly dashboards - using internal tools, Tableau or other tools - to surface business performance and scalably support data-driven decision making
  • Ensure data quality always meets our standards, by monitoring performance, diagnosing issues, and creating solutions
  • Answer complex business questions via ad-hoc SQL queries to enable business owners to make critical decisions

What You'll Need

  • 10+ years of experience in Consulting, Business Intelligence, Data Engineering, and/or Analytics capacity. High-growth or tech environment a plus
  • 3+ years of experience directly managing analytical teams
  • Python strongly preferred
  • Strategic mindset, constantly deepening our understanding of the business and ways to improve
  • Exceptional SQL skills and experience writing complex queries
  • Experience building pipelines and ETLs that transform structured and unstructured data sets in large-scale, complex datasets (Hadoop, Hive, Vertica, Presto) into actionable data models
  • Experience developing scripts and tools to enable faster data consumption and reduce manual labor intensity
  • A talent for building intuitive and actionable dashboard and data visualizations that drive business decisions
  • A Leader - you care about your team and are passionate about helping them succeed. And you can lead cross-functional projects across many teams
  • Data-driven and highly analytical - you're able to translate data and insights into a meaningful story to drive strategy, action, and decision-making at an executive level
  • Self-starter - you boldly pursue your work and love the responsibility of being personally empowered, constantly prioritizing your work amongst several projects
  • Curious - you're innovative, creative, and constantly looking for opportunities to tweak and optimize
  • An Owner - you are passionate about having ownership over everything you ship; you'd never call code "released" until you're confident it's correct, monitored, documented, and tested. Strong project management skills and the ability to drive projects through end-to-end
  • Team Player - you love going heads down in SQL, but also partnering with your teammates and stakeholders
