About the Role

The right candidate for this role will be the import/export compliance subject matter expert in the Asia Pacific region (APAC), supporting a major part of our global supply chain model for sourcing of cutting edge parts and components across all lines of business. From electric bikes and scooters, to self-driving technology, to UberEats branded courier goods, the Global Trade Compliance Sr Specialist / Program Manager will be in charge of supervising all transactions and implementing the whole export/import program for the APAC region. This position will be located in Singapore, Hong Kong or Japan.

What You'll Do

  • Create and Implement Uber APAC Trade Compliance program, this includes Uber Import and Export Manuals for the APAC region
  • Implement Customs Brokers guidelines
  • Develop new procedures and processes that will compliantly and efficiently support Uber global business operations
  • Review control-based transaction holds for export and import transactions using Oracle Global Trade Management module.
  • Review Restricted Parties Screenings hits.
  • Review technical specifications, work instructions, design and drawings for prototype parts to assign accurate classifications for export/imports and support global shipment transactions.
  • Conduct HTS classification in accordance with the World Customs Organization rules and country-specific notes.
  • Conduct Export Controls classifications
  • Apply for Import permits and Export authorizations in the whole APAC region
  • Advise Logistics and Supply Chain teams on compliance with Uber-mandated requirements on commercial invoices, customs declarations, export/import authorizations, and recordkeeping.
  • Integrate and ensure compliance with Uber processes for country of origin and customs valuation principles with a focus on the proper declaration and record keeping/accounting of assists.
  • Create and maintain records for all import/export licenses and classification reviews, ensure quality control of data.

Uber's Global Trade Compliance team is based in San Francisco, Pittsburgh, Amsterdam, and soon to be Hong Kong or Japan. We hold the line on financial sanctions, embargoes, customs/import, export controls, and anti-boycott across Uber's footprint.
