About the Role

As a Public Policy Manager for Road Safety, you are Uber's connection between our market-leading technology that provides flexible, reliable economic opportunities for over 3 million people around the world and the unique and growing audience of policymakers, regulators, researchers, key opinion formers and the broader public. You are a key thought leader and conduit for Uber's public affairs and government relations around the world.

You will drive global public policy development on Uber's road safety strategy and practices. Your work will focus on educating and building support with key policy and research stakeholders, as well as working with teams across the business to deliver a rigorous, high-quality, and impactful road safety strategy for Uber across different modes of transportation. In your role you will work with policy and operational stakeholders around the world to develop globally-relevant research, programs, and policy positions. This will include building and maintaining strong relationships with a network of third party experts and partners, executing educational campaigns, and promoting Uber's road safety efforts with policy stakeholders.

What You'll Do

  • Work with Uber's teams at HQ and globally to develop a public policy strategy for road safety.
  • Influence business practices and corporate development on issues that impact road safety.
  • Advise business and product teams on road safety issues and expectations.
  • Own external relationships with third party experts and researchers, advocacy organizations, and NGOs including:
    • Developing partnerships and support research that inform and advance our policy efforts
    • Conducting regular check-ins with key stakeholders to develop content, measure sentiment, and identify areas where we can improve
    • Organizing and managing events, roundtables, and user forums including education seminars in each major mega-region
    • Stay up-to-date on the latest research, trends, and stakeholders in road safety
    • Serve as go-to counsel on road safety policy issues for Uber's different lines of business, including coordinating efforts across Central policy and local public affairs teams

What You'll Need

  • 6 years of experience with road safety, public policy, advocacy, research, product development, consulting

About the Team

The Central Public Policy Team has a global remit and is responsible for developing solutions to policy opportunities and regulatory challenges in issue domains that impact on Uber's global business. Working closely with on-the-ground Public Affairs and Government Relations and cross-functional partners we develop best in class policy solutions backed by rigorous research and data. The Central Public Policy Team also provides strategic advice and guidance to Tech and Product organizations as well as key executives in the execution of Uber's business goals.
