About the Role

Mission: Power personalized experiences to reduce repeat friction for all Uber customers. To that end we own 3 major services:

  1. Geopersonal Predictions - leverages ML to implicitly personalize the Uber experience for a user at a given location. This service powers roughly half of Uber's pickups and drop-offs today.
  2. Geopersonal Places - allows users' to explicitly personalize their Uber experience for a location. For e.g. annotating a place as "home" or "work", or adding "delivery notes" for a eats.
  3. Georecommendations - suggests popular destinations for a user to visit in the Uber app. This can be especially helpful for the tourist or non-home city use case.

Impact: The mission of the team is to power personalized experiences to reduce repeat friction for all Uber customer. This is an opportunity to:

  1. be part of a team that works on personalization at Uber scale (Rides and Eats)
  2. own an area of the teams charter

Building differentiated personalized experiences to make it easier for users to request an Uber, or have food delivered. Some examples:

  1. One Tap Request: For repeat trips, bundle the multi-step trip request flow into a rich shortcut with: Pickup, Dropoff, Vehicle, Price, and ETA
  2. Pathfinding for Couriers: Surface walking traces from previous Eats deliveries to the courier making the next delivery.

What You'll Do

  • We're looking for self-motivated individuals who want to

1. Build and maintain production ready-services that handle requests at 10x trip scale
2. Build differentiated personalized experiences that work for the user and make Uber more convenient than any alternative
3. Solve ranking problems using ML/ranking techniques
4. Care deeply about the quality of software and believe in leaving things better than the find them
