This addition to our team must be someone who takes initiative, is experienced, highly organized, a team player, and able to see what needs to be done and own it. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, extensive hands on experience with eDiscovery systems, excellent project management skills and experience designing and managing complex, large-scale eDiscovery projects. Deep understanding of the litigation lifecycle and legal hold process and technology is a must. Some experience in Information Governance is a plus. This role will report to our Director, eDiscovery and Information Governance located in San Francisco.

What You'll Do

  • * Implement, update, maintain, educate, and monitor compliance for all legal holds. 
    • Monitor, evaluate, and socialize new technology to improve legal hold workflow and automation. Report on legal hold compliance and manage escalation for non-compliance.
    • Coordinate document collections/productions with eDiscovery team and outside counsel
    • Manage eDiscovery and Information Governance program related projects
    • Consult with case teams regarding the application of technology assisted review options including message threading, near duplicates, concept searching, data visualizations, and machine learning algorithms
    • Plan and manage department projects as assigned. Including but not limited to software analysis/testing/rollouts, vendor assessments, workflow development and documentation, internal training programs and audits.
    • Support and contribute to the development and implementation of best practices, tools and techniques for eDiscovery and Litigation Support.
    • Present to teams of attorneys on eDiscovery basics, best practices, and conduct training on litigation support systems and workflows.
    • Maintain and update eDiscovery and Information Governance policy, reference manuals, and resource materials

What You'll Need

  • 6+ years of eDiscovery experience in either law firm or in-house legal department
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; eDiscovery, paralegal certificate or completed law school
  • Lean, Agile, or PMP certification a plus
  • Highly motivated, efficient, organized, and laser-focused on the details
  • Experience with litigation in both California state and federal courts
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Box, Relativity, Legal Hold Pro, Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides
  • Adept at creating and executing searches across vast repositories of data
  • Able to juggle multiple projects at a time in a fast-paced environment, both collaborating as a team and working independently to get the job done, no matter how big or small the project
  • In-depth understanding of the litigation life cycle, EDRM (Electronic Discovery Reference Model), and electronic discovery/document review processes, procedures and practices

  • Calm in deadline-driven situations; self-reliant and able to prioritize workload

About the Team

Uber's eDiscovery & Information Governance team is part of Uber's Global Litigation Team, reporting under US Litigation and assisting efforts worldwide. The eDiscovery & Information Governance team is responsible for the entire eDiscovery lifecycle, retention, preservation, expert advice, and policy. We advise the business on best practices and eDiscovery strategy as well as Information Governance, globally. Our team is made up of experienced individuals who value and appreciate the importance of a solid team dynamic. We are entrusted with Uber's global eDiscovery, as well as regulatory, Information Governance, and other data intensive problem solving. We help partners all over the world and throughout the organization make evidence-based decisions.
