Lead- Consumer Communications

Communications
in Gurgaon, India

The most successful consumer technology companies are brilliant storytellers, who put their products--as well as the benefits of those products--front and center in every communication.

Communications team at Uber is responsible for telling Uber's story to the media and third parties: whether it's transforming how we get around town and the lives of people who value independent, flexible work; or cutting congestion in cities by getting more backsides into fewer cars. That's partly about building lasting relationships with key news outlets and journalists in every country where we operate. It also about being creative in how we tell our story, including the use of social media, as well as working with the public policy team to develop campaigns that make the positive case for reform.

Our consumer team develops PR strategies to ensure Uber news, product launches, partnership announcements, and proactive campaigns connect to a wide swath of audiences. We look at advanced tech and business narratives through a lifestyle lens, cultivate connections with reporters across verticals and types of publications, and connect with influencers to amplify our message.

What You'll Do:

We are looking for someone to be part of our communication team, based in Gurgaon, reporting to the Head of Consumer Communication, India and South Asia. This role will involve:

  • Working cross functionally, with city and cross-functional leaders and the APAC communication team, to tell Uber's story -- and the story of ridesharing and food delivery-- in creative, inspiring ways that resonate with journalists and on social media.
  • Partnering with global and regional communications team members to promote and enhance the overall reputation of Uber
  • Developing and executing communications projects and campaigns, including writing and pitching directly to press, together with our PR agency
  • Developing content and communications materials, including opinion pieces, blogs, video packages, press material (press releases, pitches, briefing documents), messaging guidelines, Q&As, presentations and speeches
  • Finding and developing partner profiles - to champion Uber's products and services and their positive impact across India and South Asia
  • Supporting our media outreach efforts with reporters, at both a national, state and city level.

What You'll Need:

  • 8+ years of experience
  • _A self starter: _Uber is a company of entrepreneurs and we want to work with people who enjoy building things from the bottom up too. Things change fast in our world so you'll need to be highly adaptable as well as calm under pressure;
  • A great advocate: We're looking for people who can distill complex ideas into simple, but intellectually credible, arguments. You'll need to write well and have the creative ability to tell stories and produce digital content --about our product, people and the ways we're helping to improve life for passengers, drivers and cities.
  • _A strong campaigner: _Smartphone apps are disruptive, and the interests being disrupted are deeply entrenched. We succeed by putting together effective campaigns with third parties on behalf of the riders and drivers who use the app. That means you'll have a bias for action in everything you do--and a willingness to engage in debates, with a track record of making data-driven decisions.
  • _An experienced spokesperson: _Strong media relations experience and expertise shaping a story and delivering it
  • A seasoned manager and team player: Success at Uber depends on the ability to organize different teams (internally and externally) around shared goals. It's why we're looking for well organized people who enjoy working with and motivating others to get stuff done--and who can deal with the ambiguity that sometimes comes from working cross-functionally.

At Uber, we ignite opportunity by setting the world in motion. We take on big problems to help drivers, riders, delivery partners, and eaters get moving in more than 600 cities around the world.

We welcome people from all backgrounds who seek the opportunity to help build a future where everyone and everything can move independently. If you have the curiosity, passion, and collaborative spirit, work with us, and let's move the world forward, together.
