Sr Mechanical Engineer, JUMP

About the Role

We are looking for a brilliant and motivated engineer to join our team and assist with the ongoing development of our flagship JUMP micro-mobility. Our products endure rigorous usage in a wide variety of hostile environments, making it critical that each component is engineered for durability, ease of use, and reasonable cost. This position requires experience with the design and engineering, testing, failure analysis and DFM across metal and plastic forming processes. The main focus of this role will be on assessing potential product design and improvements across our global network of micro-mobility systems, developing design changes and implementation.

What You'll Do

  • Develop mechanical systems to deliver the highest quality product to our customers
  • Organize existing product drawings and documentation into an easily accessible system
  • Interface with the program management and product management teams to understand necessary updates and revisions
  • Create 3D models of design concepts using SolidWorks/NX software
  • Create technical/design details at the product level and propose technical alternatives when necessary
  • Maintain a general understanding of certifications and codes that pertain to the product line, work with certification manager when necessary
  • Create quote packages for revisions and new product lines
  • Communicate cost data to procurement and finance teams to evaluate cost goals of products
  • Own the creation of specification materials, drawings, BOMs for JUMP infrastructure products

What You'll Need

  • At least 8+ years of experience in Mechanical Engineering
  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering or related fields
  • Proven track record in designing products for high-volume production
  • Contagious passion for complex, precise and well­ engineered products
  • High proficiency in engineering for plastic and metal production processes
  • Experience in taking mechanical design from a vision to production including­ tolerance documentation, vendor management and DFMA methodologies for product optimization
  • Deep knowledge of material properties & testing standards for corrosion, UV, fatigue & wear resistance
  • Professional experience in automotive, commercial vehicles, bicycle manufacturing, rugged, weatherproof products, consumer electronics, EV charging infrastructure or related industry
  • High proficiency in CAD software including surfacing and sheet metal design - SolidWorks/NX preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a complex environment under challenging timing constraints
  • Willing to travel

  • Experience in the areas of transportation, batteries, low voltage, industrial products
  • Familiarity with 3D printing technology
