Policy Intern - Berlin

Public Policy
in Berlin, Germany

About the Role

We are looking for someone to support the German policy team as a policy intern. You will work with the whole team on briefings, policy research and assist with office management. In this role, you will help develop and implement Uber's policy efforts and objectives through research and political monitoring. You will have the opportunity to work with cross-functional teams from marketing, operations, communications and legal. This role will be based in Berlin.

What You'll Do

  • Work on the policy strategy and the Uber story narrative
  • Design and run projects through actionable processes to better assist the policy team to set them up for success
  • Working closely with cross-functional teams in Germany
  • Assist the policy team with office management
  • Deep dive into political system and insights

What You'll Need

  • Passion: At least 6 months experience in political work (Government, parliament, associations and/or companies).
  • Skills: Currently enrolled in a Bachelors or Masters studies and are in your final year or have a gap year of studies in legal, policy, communication or business school
  • Hustle: Passion for the mission of our business and the impact it has on the cities we serve. You are a team player with no task too big or too small.
  • Communicator: Effective oral and written communication skills in German and English
  • A self starter: Uber is a company of entrepreneurs and we want to work with people who enjoy building things from the bottom up. Things change fast in our world so you'll need to be highly adaptable as well as calm under pressure.
  • A great advocate: Distill complex ideas into simple and intellectually credible arguments. You'll need to write about our product, people and the ways we're helping to improve life for customers, partners and cities
  • A strong campaigner: At Uber, we are trying to accelerate cities toward the future of urban mobility. That means having a bias for action in everything you do--and a willingness to engage in constructive internal debates
  • A team player: Success at Uber depends on the ability to work in different teams (internally and externally) around shared goals. It's why we're looking for well organized people who enjoy working with others to get things done--and who can deal with the ambiguity that sometimes comes from working cross-functionally
  • Work authorization in Germany
  • Available for 6 months full time commencing October 2019
