Uber Freight Europe is seeking a founding member of the Safety, Risk and Compliance function. This function exists to support our the European business in driving sustainable growth, shaping our compliance strategy, and executing on compliance initiatives. As part of Regional Carrier Operations, this role will lead strategic projects and manage cross-functional initiatives, seeking to drive consistency in thought and approach across different markets in Europe.

What You'll Do

  • Strategy: Working with the broader Regional Carrier Operations and Global Compliance teams - shape your roadmap and advocate which projects and areas of compliance the central team should focus on, and set an aggressive timeline to reach those goals
  • Project Management: You will lead priority projects within the safety, risk or compliance field within the Regional Carrier Operations team. You will work closely with teams across the European organization and our US and Global teams in San Francisco and Chicago
  • Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary interface between global, regional and local teams to drive and prioritize projects. Act as a product champion for our large initiatives and roll out new feature releases internally and externally
  • Set Compliance standards: Analyse the situation in the region and determine best-in-class standard for compliance and auditing across our EU operations. Help to develop new processes or improve existing ones to keep carrier operations 100% compliant. Identify areas in which we are not meeting standards
  • Streamline and monitor compliance: Understand, document, and track compliance challenges across the EU and streamline document validation and audit
  • Safety: Establish our EU safety standards, review incidents and identify opportunities to mitigate or manage safety incidents
  • Product & automation: Identify opportunities to productize or automate compliance processes

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Engineering or similar field.
  • 4+ years of Strategy Consulting, Operations Management, Accounting, Fraud, Risk, Engineering, Banking, or Start-up background with previous experience using data to drive business decisions
  • Excellent Excel skills required
  • SQL experience preferred but not required (with a willingness to learn)
  • Demonstrated leadership of leading initiatives and projects at your organization.
