About the Role

We've disrupted the transportation and logistics world, and with that comes the need for top legal talent. This is a newly-created position that will join the Legal Team that supports all of Uber's businesses in Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan. The Counsel, North Asia will work on a huge variety of cutting-edge legal matters, including a big focus on the fast-growing EATS business and APAC product roll-outs. This position will be based in Hong Kong and will report into the Head of Legal, Southeast Asia & North Asia.

What you'll do

  • Join a tight-knit Legal team that provides across-the-board support for Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan, including day-to-day work and strategic leadership on a wide range of regulatory, litigation and commercial matters
  • Partner closely with the Public Policy, Communications, Tax, Insurance, Community Operations, Marketing and People teams to ensure strategic alignment on and successful execution of important country-specific and regional initiatives
  • Support the EATS and Rides Teams as they expand offerings and geographic scope; help the Product Team evaluate and roll out new products across North Asia.

What you'll need

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience as a qualified lawyer within a recognised law firm or multinational company; in-house experience and Hong Kong qualified would be a plus but is not required
  • Strong skills in legal drafting, research, negotiation and with commercial and contentious work; significant dispute resolution and regulatory experience would be a plus
  • Highly motivated, creative and laser-focused on the details
  • The ability to juggle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment and to re-prioritize quickly to address shifting business needs; able to thrive in high impact/high profile situations
  • A team-player who is motivated to make a difference and help the Legal Team support Uber's regional growth
  • Excellent project and stakeholder management skills, organized, and good judgment
  • Pragmatic -- able to provide practical, actionable solutions for business clients
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (outgoing, down-to-earth, and with a good sense of humor)
  • Ability to operate in English (required), Mandarin (preferred) and Cantonese (preferred)
  • Enthusiastic about Uber!
