About the Role
The Uber Advanced Technology Group is seeking an Engineering Manager to own our developer experience as applied to developing code and systems for the autonomous driving technology space. Our developer experience supports the ATG mission across both development and production realms, and includes areas of build/release tooling, CI systems, automated and field test systems, code quality assessment and other aspects.
Are you passionate about building high-reliability autonomous systems? Do you enjoy solving complex problems relating to code structure and organization? Do you live and breathe languages, tools, libraries and frameworks? Are you able to rapidly understand the needs of users and convert these to action plans? Are you comfortable diving deep into the details of continuous integration one day, doing performance assessment and resource planning the next day? If so this opportunity is for you.
As an Engineering Manager at ATG you will be expected to make an impact through both organizing the work of others and your ability to lead within one or more technical areas. Working at the intersection of technology and people, you will balance long-term technology direction, health of the team, and individual careers of team members to ensure success in all these dimensions.

The Core Platforms team builds and runs the set of software platforms used to operate our fleets of automated vehicles. From onboard sensing and computation, to wireless telemetry, to bulk data capture and offload, to ingest and transform and indexing and searching, to the software development tooling enabling all these systems to be built, the Core Platforms team plays a central role in the ATG development and production ecosystem; we make the cars drive, protect them from harm, provide rich datasets to our engineers, and delight our scientists!
The Developer Platform team provides a seamless, easy to use set of tools and services that allow ATG engineers to develop, review, build, release, test and analyze SDV software. These services, applications and tools enable engineers to develop, build, test, debug and release software components of the ATG SDV. The tools and services used in the build and release process are developed and maintained by the platform. The Developer Platform is also responsible for the tools and operational services that manage unit testing, integration testing, code quality checks and execution of core simulation-based checks on submitted code.
