About the Team

The Global Public Safety Liaison team consists of highly motivated professionals responsible for interactions with law enforcement and public safety agencies. We are committed to safety and privacy and constantly seek to build trust within our law enforcement and public health communities.

About the Role

We are seeking a Public Safety Liaison Manager for Europe. This is a highly dynamic role, including routine and ad-hoc responsibilities, with little direct supervision. You will be encouraged to balance working from our Paris office with regularly working from home.

What You'll Do

  1. Managing Uber's relationship with public safety authorities in Europe, particularly France, developing innovative solutions to engage and work with law enforcement and public health authorities; and promoting Uber's commitment to safety, privacy, and transparency.
  2. Guiding and advising the business on how best to partner with the law enforcement community in the pursuit of platform and community safety.
  3. Supporting law enforcement investigations in response to critical incidents, complex investigations and protests.
  4. Deliver a positive safety impact through proactive engagement with law enforcement, including enhanced safety support, proactive disclosures to resolve emergencies, and proactive referrals to further important investigations.
  5. Use data to generate valuable insights, identify business risks, and drive change.
  6. Create strategic relationships with law enforcement and regulatory authorities to deliver business outcomes.
  7. Promote safety and build trust with law enforcement agencies through training on Uber's emergency and investigative support capability.
  8. Promote data privacy and identify gaps/opportunities to drive LE Portal adoption.
  9. Engage with investigators during complex and critical investigations, engaging appropriate Uber stakeholders as required.
  10. Inform the response to safety and reputational risk following critical incidents.
  11. Be comfortable being on-call for after-hours assistance to team members who respond to 24/7 emergencies.
  12. Partner with cross-functional stakeholders, including regional Legal, Policy, Safety Comm's, Safety Product, etc.
  13. Be prepared to travel within the area of responsibility.
  14. Be prepared to testify in court.

Basic Qualifications

  1. Native French speaker, with full professional proficiency in English
  2. 8+ years of subject matter expertise gained within a criminal investigations role in the private sector, a policing agency, a prosecutor's office, and/or data protection authorities.
  3. Expertise in data protection legislation and criminal/administrative investigations.
  4. Experience working with structured business models, products, and privacy policy.
  5. Expert in technical lines of inquiry, including communications and location data analysis.
  6. Advanced knowledge of Uber’s business model, products, and privacy policy.
  7. Thorough understanding of the legal and regulatory frameworks in France.
  8. Subject matter expert in regional data disclosure obligations. Highly knowledgeable about GDPR and Uber's global data privacy policy.
  9. Confident and articulate communicator, both one-on-one and when presenting to an audience.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Fluency in a third language (such as Spanish, Portuguese, or Italian) would be considered a strong asset
  2. Data Savviness: A foundational grasp of SQL is preferred, along with an ability to clearly articulate findings in written reports and oral briefings.
