Sr. Software Engineer, Backend - Trusted Identity

About the Role

Trusted Identity team is responsible for all Identity verifications done at Uber. This team's focus will be on verification of Spenders using both Document verification and other signals from various third party vendors.

We operate globally, across different roles riders, drivers, restaurants, freight companies etc. We are growing faster, onboarding new internal line of business but also increasing the coverage of our solutions for final users.

What the Candidate Will Do

  • Design and build large scale systems for verification of users on the Uber Platform.
  • Possess strong communication skills to effectively design technology systems and provide well-founded arguments during decision-making processes.
  • Collaborate closely with the platform team to create seamless and magical product experiences.
  • Capable of mentoring junior colleagues, providing guidance, support, and knowledge sharing to foster their professional growth.

Basic Qualifications

  • 6+ years of backend software engineering experience
  • Expertise in one or more object-oriented programming languages (Go, Java).
  • Demonstrated experience of shipping high-quality product features on schedule.
  • Demonstrated ownership over bugs, timelines, on call shifts.
  • Track record of working with Identity verification solutions is a plus. Fraud detection experience is a plus.
