Senior Software Engineer - iOS

iOS, Engineering
in Amsterdam, Netherlands

About the Role

The Money Hub Checkout teams build unified, seamless, and fast checkout experiences that directly connect riders, eaters and our other users to their payment to Uber. We win for our users by paying attention to every detail of their journey and we win for Uber by making a checkout process that scales to support every line of business. As a iOS engineer, you will build the experiences that touch every booking made on our platform. Want to be in the critical path for billions of euros and dollars, pounds and pesos, real and rupees flowing through the marketplace? Join us, we'll show you how we do it and learn from you how to do it better.

  • As a software engineer, you'll engage in product and engineering jam sessions ideating over features, mapping them into a technical design, giving and taking feedback and then making it real for our users.
  • As an iOS software engineer, you will build software that will ship to millions of users, own rank #1 on the App Store for travel and grow multiple 4 star apps to make our users’ lives better.
  • As a member of the checkout teams, you will be an integral part of a team committed to doing the right thing, growing each other through active feedback and living the principle that great minds don't think alike.

---- What the Candidate Will Do --—

  • You will make the world move better through software development. Everyday.
  • Software Engineering. We first deliver value to our team, company and users by building and shipping a great experience. That means coding, documenting, testing and operating our software.
  • Design and Architecture. Uber does not have someone who writes blueprints that others implement. You will be responsible for exercising your judgement through the evaluation of engineering tradeoffs for the whole solution space.

Collaboration and Leadership. We don't build things alone. We get there together through building and sustaining our relationships with our cross-functional peers and teams. We get there together by building a solid plan, identifying and mitigating risks and communicating when things change. Every engineer is expected to lead.

---- Basic Qualifications --—

  • Bachelor or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field
  • 4 years full-time Software Engineering work experience in the following area:
  • iOS development in Swift and Objective C

---- What the Candidate Will Need --—

  • Clear and demonstrable contribution to user visible features on mobile apps that ship to millions of users
  • Experience in the payments domain
  • Cross-platform (iOS and Android) or full-stack (iOS and backend)
  • Product thinker who pays close attention to user needs and understands how to make sense of experimental results

At Uber, we reimagine the way the world moves for the better. The idea was born on a snowy night in Paris in 2008, and ever since then, our DNA of reimagination and reinvention carries on. We’ve grown into a global platform moving people and things in ever-expanding ways, taking on big problems to help drivers, riders, delivery partners, and eaters make movement happen at the push of a button for everyone, everywhere.

We welcome people from all backgrounds who seek the opportunity to help build a future where everyone and everything can move independently. If you have the curiosity, passion, and collaborative spirit, work with us, and let’s move the world forward, together.
