Staff Data Scientist - Marketing

About the role

Within the CRM and B2B Marketing Data Science Organization, we are looking for experienced data scientists/analytics engineers w/ deep abilities to bring data to life at scale via automating the repeatable work and building data products that increase the leverage of the various data scientists within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with our CRM and B2B teams to build data products that increase the insights and recommendations for optimization made through the course of the campaign lifecycle.
  • Build scalable data sources and data products that act as sources of truth and can be leveraged by multiple teams.
  • Design and develop pipelines to build and extend the usage of the aggregate tables ; create and maintain documentation for these flows.
  • Manage dashboards to enable observability and to communicate results to leadership.
  • Provide data modeling expertise to all data science teams through code reviews and pairing to increase efficiency of the data science team.
  • Coach data science and marketing teams to answer complex data questions and help define new and existing metrics to enable accurate decision making.

Requirements

  • Ph.D., M.S., or Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Machine Learning, Operations Research, or other quantitative fields. (If Ph.D, or M.S. degree, a minimum of 5+ years of industry experience required and if Bachelor's degree, a minimum of 8+ years of industry experience as a Data Scientist or equivalent).
  • Expertise in Tableau and/or similar B.I platform to deliver data products at scale.
  • Expertise in languages and tools like SQL, R, and/or Python.
  • Experience with big data using technologies like Hadoop, Hive, and Spark.
  • Knowledge of underlying mathematical foundations of statistics, machine learning, optimization, economics, and analytics. Knowledge of experimental design and analysis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with CRM, B2B, and/or Paid Marketing domains.
  • Proven understanding of experimental design to help determine the incrementally of a marketing campaign.
  • Demonstrated capacity to clearly and concisely communicate complex business activities, technical requirements, and recommendations.
  • Previous experience in advertising tech (e.g. bidding model, attribution, targeting, 3rd party data integration, etc) is a plus.
  • Work experience in applying advanced analytics, applied science, or causal inference to marketing problems.
  • Organized and have the ability to balance attention to detail with swift execution.
  • Self motivated with task organizational skills. Ability to achieve consensus amongst technical and business teams.

Offices continue to be central to collaboration and Uber's cultural identity.
