Sr. Product Manager - Messaging & Discovery

Product Management, Product
in San Francisco, California

About the Role

Product teams at Uber build the vision for the future of urban mobility: deeply understanding our customers to tackle their transportation needs with innovative technology. On the Rides team, we work on products that reimagine the way the world moves for the better! The Consumer Experience team is passionate about improving and growing the ways our customers discover and access all that Uber has to offer, providing a personalized, delightful and intuitive app experience.

In this role as the Messaging & Discovery PM, you will own core elements of the Uber Rider experience, and partner with teams across the company to ensure our users can seamlessly and intuitively discover all that Uber has to offer through in-app dynamic surfaces and have access to the critical information they need to safely and reliably enjoy the services we offer.

You will help define the user experience for some of the most critical interfaces in the Rider app, support the development of sophisticated targeting and personalization systems, and ultimately increase the ways Uber supports customers around the world with their mobility and delivery needs as they adopt more of our services. Furthermore, you will be responsible for assimilating the business needs of a variety of stakeholders and combining them with the needs of our consumers to build a delightful and effective in-app experience.

You will work with partners in design, research, and data science teams - and across product teams within the company - in order to understand customer needs. You will then craft complete solutions to address them. As a result, your work will touch millions of riders a day, including the experiences of your friends and family!

What You'll Do

  • Own the end-to-end Messaging & Discovery experience, from its infrastructural capabilities all the way to the front-end experience, crafting and leading execution on an exciting roadmap to materially craft the way tens of millions of people interact with the Uber app.
  • Partner with design, research, data science, engineering, and other PM collaborators to understand user needs and problems, and then craft comprehensive solutions to address them
  • Work with product teams around the company to understand their use cases and integrate them appropriately in the Rider app

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of delivering highly successful and innovative products with your fingerprints all over them -- and you're deeply proud of what you've accomplished
  • A passion for user experience: you can guide design priorities for the team, and have an excellent sense of experience principles.

Preferred Qualifications

  • You can get the data you need and can whip it into an insightful story with no help. You're able to run rigorous multivariate testing and experimentation
  • Platform experience: you can take a laundry list of use cases and connect the dots to develop complete, scalable solutions with internal partners
  • You have experience within high-velocity growth functions or previous exposure to ads-related concepts and experiences.

At Uber, we reimagine the way the world moves for the better. The idea was born on a snowy night in Paris in 2008, and ever since then, our DNA of reimagination and reinvention carries on. We've grown into a global platform moving people and things in ever-expanding ways, taking on big problems to help drivers, riders, delivery partners, and eaters make movement happen at the push of a button for everyone, everywhere.

We welcome people from all backgrounds who seek the opportunity to help build a future where everyone and everything can move independently. If you have the curiosity, passion, and collaborative spirit, work with us, and let's move the world forward, together.
