In Finance, we work hand-in-hand with leaders across the company to ensure smooth, disciplined execution of strategic business objectives. Our Tax & Reporting team builds scalable and well-controlled processes to support timely and accurate financial, statutory reporting, and ensure compliance with regional and local tax regulations.

About the Role

Uber is continuing to expand rapidly, and we are looking to add a highly motivated Senior Manager to our team. This role will play a leading role in the strategic direction for tax reporting technology and automation at Uber and work closely with our FinTech, Engineering, and Product platform teams to ensure tax is represented at all stages of product development. The role will require deep technical and project management skills and experience, plus significant people skills including the ability to influence cross functionally & globally to deliver tax technology products.

Your job will be to implement standard practices and enhance the effectiveness of Uber's tax systems, processes and controls by defining short and long-term tax technology strategy, translate objectives into technical requirements, and drive initiatives through deployment. You must have a grasp of tax and compliance concepts and an awareness of the international issues facing a fast-growing multinational company. You will be working within the global tax team and helping to shape tax processes as well as supporting new products. In your role you will work with highly motivated, exceptionally skilled, multi-cultural team members.

What You'll Do

  • Become an authority in Uber's tax data and related systems, driving awareness of the components that comprise the process and data aspects of the tax technology and operations environment
  • Find opportunities to streamline use of data, identify operational improvements and coordinate with multiple teams
  • Facilitate tax and reporting project prioritization and make recommendations for execution based on business value and risk
  • Question and understand new and complex tax and reporting scenarios, anticipate information needs and identify gaps in information
  • Lead collaboration with other business partners, and be responsible for defining tax-specific scope, goals, and deliverables
  • Monitor ongoing operations, including promptly identifying, communicating problems, and facilitating creative solutions to resolve blockers in timely manner to support business operations
  • Develop and implement Key Performance Indicators for ongoing tax reporting metrics and special projects

Basic Qualifications

  • 6+ Years of Experience with Tax, SQL, Oracle, Vertex, data analytics and/or visualization tool (Manager)
  • 8+ Years of Experience with Tax, SQL, Oracle, Vertex, data analytics and/or visualization tools (Senior Manager)
  • A BS/BA degree in accounting, finance, and/or related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Vertex tax engine/automation implementation
  • Demonstrated experience of leading projects with measurable business impact; finance, accounting, or tax systems projects
  • Ability to author requirements documents, technical specifications, interface mapping documents, and process flows
  • Strong experience in Excel, project management, flowcharting and other commonly used software tools
  • Excellent technical skills in SQL, Oracle, data analytics and visualization tools; strongly preferred
  • Hard-working with great attention to detail, project management and organizational skills and demonstrates meaningful ownership of tasks
  • Strong communication skills
