About The Role

The New Verticals team is Uber Eats' "start-up within a start-up", accountable for piloting, launching and scaling Uber Eats' non-restaurant categories including Grocery, Convenience, Alcohol, Pharmacy and more. As part of the continued push into regulated categories such as Alcohol and Pharmacy, the New Verticals team is expanding its Regulated Goods team with the creation of a new 'Regulated Goods Senior Manager' role. This role will focus on the improvement and expansion of our pharmaceutical delivery offerings, while contributing to our broader Regulated Goods strategy and operations.

We currently facilitate the delivery of alcohol on Uber Eats in Victoria, New South Wales and New Zealand, partnering with Australia's largest retailers. We also have a limited Pharmaceutical offering, partnering with grocery, convenience and pharmaceutical retailers to provide over-the-counter medications and other healthcare products. We see strong customer signals across both of these offerings and will be investing in these in 2022 and beyond. As we expand, we believe we can set the industry standard for the safe delivery and consumption of alcohol and pharmaceuticals.

This new role will be responsible for leading the end-to-end execution of projects across both our expansion and continuous improvement objectives, tackling some of our biggest challenges. The role will take on projects of significant complexity and importance to the growth of our New Verticals team, with the outcomes having direct, tangible impact on commercial results and the experiences of consumers, delivery people and merchants.

What You'll Do**

  • Define and lead expansion of new regulated goods offerings, partnering closely with our Legal and Policy teams to identify and unlock eligible markets and product categories.
  • Analyse, design and implement scalable solutions that ensure the safe and compliant delivery of regulated goods. You'll be responsible for taking on big challenges, understanding the requirements, finding creative solutions, and seeing them through implementation.
  • Work closely with the global grocery product team (in SF) and local cross functional teams to ensure our product capability and business processes are fit for purpose to deliver regulated goods in ANZ.
  • Support our local Sales and Account Management team's engagement with new and existing partners to ensure that we grow our offerings in a way that supports the needs of both Uber and its partners.
  • Work with Regulated Goods Ops team members to improve our overall approach to Regulated Goods, so that we are able to lead the market in safety and compliance, while balancing risk with commercial opportunities.

Basic Qualifications**

  • A proven track record: You'll have 5+ years of business management, operations or legal / regulatory experience in a dynamic environment.
  • A self-starter who thrives in ambiguity: Solving our regulated goods challenges isn't easy, and there isn't often an existing plan for you to follow. You'll have the support of the Regulated Goods Lead, the Retail team, and cross-functional partners, however you'll need to be the one driving this forward autonomously.
  • A demonstrated ability to look at problems creatively: Deliver exceptional results to the most complex problems, by identifying issues, understanding the constraints and finding solutions with impact.
  • A willingness to 'get into the weeds' and a continuous improvement mindset: You'll be as comfortable talking to our Legal team about pharmaceutical regulations as you are running a workshop with sales and support teams to create a new business process. You won't get it right on day 1, or week 1, or month 1... However, by being in the detail and deeply understanding all aspects of our product and processes, you'll be best placed to advise and/or execute on improvement opportunities.
  • An excellent collaborator: Our regulated goods operations require significant cross functional collaboration across the organisation. You'll need to be able to manage these relationships effectively: influencing expectations, obtaining buy-in and driving action to a collective result.
  • Previous experience in retail, alcohol, pharmaceuticals and/or regulation is a plus, but not required.
