Compliance Lead - Uber Payments BV

About the Role

Uber Payments BV (UPBV) is Uber's payments subsidiary in the EU processing all of Uber's payments in the EU (EEA) under a licence from the Dutch Central Bank. As a licensed financial institution Uber Payments BV has stringent compliance obligations and this role is crucial for ensuring that these are met.

The UPBV Compliance Team is part of Uber Payments BV's second line of defence and is responsible for setting and implementing a policy framework to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations covering customer due diligence, anti-money laundering, counter terrorism financing and sanctions screening requirements, as well as anti-bribery, anti-corruption, prevention of conflict of interests and overall the prevention of criminal acts in the financial space. The Compliance Team is supported by and supports initiatives of the larger Uber Group. Cooperation with UPBV's first line Compliance Operations department and several Uber Technology Inc (UTI) key teams are crucial.

As the Compliance Lead, a member of the UPBV Management Team, you will be responsible for ensuring Uber Payments' operations and procedures effectively meet applicable requirements. In this position you will manage the Integrity Risk policy framework within Uber Payments, identify compliance risks associated with the business activities and follow up on remediation when required.

What You'll Do

  • Continuously create awareness within the organisation with respect to compliance risk
  • Motivate and manage the day to day operations of the second line UPBV Compliance team, set planning and vision, build trust and coordinate execution against agreed targets
  • Manage the Compliance program and policy framework for UPBV and ensure alignment with regulatory obligations
  • Prepare, maintain and review internal compliance policies, procedures, systems, and processes, to ensure compliance to applicable regulatory requirements and guidelines
  • Work closely together and build sustainable relationships with various functions and stakeholders within UPBV and Uber Group
  • Provide guidance and support to various functions within UPBV and Uber with designing and implementing appropriate processes to support the business in achieving objectives while ensuring overall compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Own, manage and help operationalise the Integrity risk program for UPBV as well as leading UPBV's SIRA program
  • Coordinate Compliance reporting to the Management Team, Management and Supervisory Board, as well as the Dutch Central Bank and other relevant stakeholders
  • Manage the Compliance training program for UPBV and build a strong compliance culture within UPBV and Uber relevant teams
  • Manage a program ensuring compliance with applicable local laws and regulations, as well as emerging relevant regulations
  • Support the risk appetite setting process for UPBV in matters related to the Compliance domain
  • Coordinate external and internal audits related to the Compliance domain
  • Participate in and/or lead (cross functional) projects
  • Contribute to UPBV's growth through interviewing, on-boarding and other recruitment efforts

What You'll Need

  • More than 10 years of experience with compliance and/or payments compliance of which at least 3 years of experience in a managerial role
  • Experience within the financial technology sector
  • Strong understanding of compliance concepts and experience with operationalising such in complex environments
  • Strong sense of ownership, accountability and entrepreneurial spirit
  • Strong teaching and mentoring skills, able to effectively grow reports in their careers
  • Strong sense of integrity
  • Able to drive change and solution oriented
  • Great communicator, quick thinker and confident in decision making
  • Enthusiastic, self-starting and thrives in changing, agile environments
  • Fully comfortable working in English, both written and spoke
