Marketing Lead, Uber Advertising

About the Team

We are building a new Uber Advertising division to spearhead the next phase of Uber's global advertising business. By building strong advertising products, Uber will enable merchants and brands to reach and convert its highly engaged user base across its Mobility and Delivery platforms in 32 markets while we empower eaters, riders and earners to discover the familiar.

About the Role

In this Senior Manager role as the Marketing Lead, you will be the business owner of B2B marketing efforts for Uber Advertising. You'll be responsible for crafting and implementing the external voice of the Uber Ads brand enabling us to engage with our advertisers. You will work closely with cross functional partners including sales, operations, finance, product, engineering and marketing. This role will report into the General Manager, Uber Advertising.

What You'll Do

  • Build the Uber Advertising brand and its overall positioning rooted in a deep understanding of our users', merchants' needs and Uber's strengths.
  • Develop a comprehensive marketing strategy and implement a sophisticated marketing plan to ensure the brand is optimally aligned with the division's strategic objectives.
  • Develop compelling value propositions that drive distinct competitive advantages for Uber Advertising's existing and new advertising products
  • Orchestrate Uber Advertising's participation events globally and maintain all content for presentation for trade show or career fair boards.
  • Own PR/Communications strategy
  • Develop the marketing roadmap in collaboration with the Head of Ad Sales to align marketing and sales.
  • Build editorial and content creation calendars for various media platforms and outlets.
  • Develop and implement Uber Advertising's digital marketing strategy, including SEO and SEM to generate advertiser demand.
  • Interpret and use online platforms like Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter to increase brand awareness of Uber Advertising as a media property and as an attractive employer.
  • Lead all aspects of internal communications to ensure all employees are updated on key Uber Advertising messages and clearly understand the vision and objectives.
  • Build internal alignments and utilize relationships with internal and external business partners.
  • Create and maintain an active network of marketing partnerships to enable marketing execution.
  • Be a strategic thought partner to different parts of the business.

Basic Qualifications

  • Business administration degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience working with advertisers or media and creative agencies.
  • Minimum of 6 years in B2B marketing at a company that engages with B2B and B2C customers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Established network in the advertising industry and frequent organizer of or speaker at advertising events.
  • Be customer focused (users and merchants) and be passionate about building great experiences for Uber users all over the world.
  • Focus on building a brand and cultivating the WHY behind that brand, not just the what and how.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills; a natural storyteller and creative problem solver; native in both digital and physical worlds; a collaborator with a constant curiosity and a learning mentality who likes to complete the tactics as much as setting the strategy
  • Persuasive, collaborative - able to work across multiple partners and influence drive brand-right implementation. Great at building and maintaining relationships, fostering an environment of mutual respect, understanding, and trust.
  • Forward-thinking and Fast - able to balance priorities and move quickly in a rapidly changing environment with tight deadlines.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit - willingness to challenge the status quo in our highly redefined business environment and move quickly to test and learn new strategies and tactics. This also relates to a level of resourcefulness and proven track record to do a lot with a little.
  • An ability to build deep relationships across a broad organization, cultivate a fun and collaborative work environment, and identify problems from different perspectives. Humility and empathy are crucial to success in this role.
  • High standards and a bias toward action. You can find the context and information you need through relationships across the organization, you push for clarity and delivery, and you hold a high bar from your contributions and those of the people you work with.
  • Be able to work cross functionally with many other roles and team members in the company.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both within your team and with leadership and partners.
