Senior Strategy & Operations Manager, Global New Verticals

Uber is looking for a Senior Strategy & Operations Manager to join the Global New Verticals business and drive the development of new businesses and ways of working in our highest priority markets. This strategy and operations role will be part of a global team, based out of NYC. The ideal candidate will thrive in ambiguous environments, working cross-functionally, and pivot between business strategy, project management, operations implementation, and data analytics to deliver strategic initiatives that enable our next billion dollar businesses.


  • Observe: As a critical problem solver, observe and understand current operations, processes, and trends. Ask the right questions, and call out the risks and opportunities.
  • Ideate:Create innovative, scalable solutions for sophisticated business problems touching many sides of the business.
  • Plan: Work with regional GM's and teams across all global markets, to decide what gets prioritized and why. Undertake analysis, build business cases, determine the impact of global projects. Define and run complex multi-workstream programs. Plug into Uber's global financial and product planning process.
  • Collaborate: Work with cross-functional stakeholders across product, operations, marketing, finance, legal, and external vendors to gain alignment, and broker effective working. Report to senior leadership on the progress of workstreams, and be the first to flag risks and sensitivities.
  • Operationalize: Build, launch, run, and scale solutions that enable the growth or efficiency across grocery, retail, and regulated products such as tobacco, alcohol, or pharmacy. Take the lead in defining where to launch, how to optimise, or course-correct if required.
  • Report: Develop presentations and reports to shape strategy and execution. Take accountability for project outcomes and ensure delivery on critical project metrics through periodical updates, trainings, and post-analysis.


  • 4+ years of professional work experience


  • Experience in consulting or strategy work in a large business, project or operations management, or investment banking (2+ years preferred)
  • Phenomenal collaborator, and someone who proactively partners across teams, able to influence senior and external stakeholders
  • Critical and structured thinking, with a natural curiosity and confidence to seek out answers, and propose solutions where there may not yet be an answer
  • Strong project management skills, comfortable working independently at times
  • Self-motivated, solutions-orientated, with a bias for action
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • An interest in the future of on-demand logistics
  • Excel / data management skills, SQL proficiency preferred
  • Basic financial fluency, comfortable understanding P&L's
  • Entrepreneurial mentality as a builder or fixer of businesses or processes
