EMEA Tax Manager

About the Role

Uber is growing rapidly, and we are looking to add a Tax Manager to our EMEA team to support our growing international presence.

This is an advisory position, and you must have a firm grasp of tax technical issues. The role will cover both direct as well as indirect taxes, but will have a heavy leaning towards indirect taxes. You will be working within the tax team and helping craft the direction of the company and the products it offers. In your role, you will work in a highly motivated, dedicated, and multicultural team.

What You'll do

  • You have the ability to operate independently, make decisions and thrive with execution
  • You will amongst others co-manage the UK & Ireland tax position
  • Provide tax analysis on international (direct and indirect) tax matters across the EMEA region
  • Collaborate and manage relationships with various stakeholders such as Operations, Legal, Policy, Accounting, Compliance and Communications
  • Be part of a cross-functional team that works on rolling out new products and services
  • Liaise with external advisers to ensure Uber gets the best advice possible
  • Co-manage audits, controversy and correspondence with the tax authorities
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the global tax team on various projects

What You'll Need

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in tax
  • Extensive experience in a law firm, Big 4 accounting firm or industry in the field of international tax
  • Indirect and/or direct tax skills (we are considering both VAT specialists and CIT specialists, as long as you are eager to learn)
  • Proficient English written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong business acumen and organization skills
  • Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced work environment
  • Open to challenging projects outside areas of experience or comfort zone

Desirable experience

  • Ideally, experience with UK/Ireland tax matters, and ideally with respect to controversy / digital services
  • Preferably, a mix of direct and indirect tax experience
  • Proficiency in other languages is desirable
