Uber Payments UK LTD (UPUK) is a subsidiary of Uber Payments B.V., Uber's authorized platform payment processor for the EU and the UK, and is applying for a license as an electronic money institution in the UK.
Upon obtaining its license, UPUK will process all of Uber's payments in the United Kingdom.

As a licensed financial institution, UPUK's risk management framework will be key for meeting its stringent compliance obligations and this role is crucial for ensuring that these are met. The UPUK Risk Management Lead is part of the UPUK's second line of defence and is responsible for identifying and
managing risks within UPUK risk appetite as approved by its Board. The Risk Lead reporting into UPUK's Compliance & Risk.

The UPUK Risk Lead is supported by and supports Uber group initiatives in the payments space. Cooperation with several Regional and Global Teams is crucial for the successful execution of this role.

As a Risk Lead, you will be responsible for supporting UPUK to identify, assess and mitigate regulatory, compliance, operational and strategic risks in line with applicable laws and regulations and the risk appetite as defined. In this role you will assist informed decision making by providing transparency into these risk exposures, while also focusing on embedding risk processes within the day-to-day business operations. Successful risk management requires dynamic individuals who are able to liaise with various stakeholders and foster collaboration, integrate perspectives and drive to business beneficial outcomes while staying within the set risk appetite.

**What You'll Do

** Motivate and manage the day to day operations of the UPUK team in respect of management of risk, set vision, build trust and coordinate execution against agreed targets

Build and maintain strong relationships within UPUK, UPBV and Uber as it will be imperative to drive an effective risk management culture.

  • Strong connector, comfortable with cross-functional and diverse teams.
  • Manage the risk management and internal control framework of UPUK and ensure alignment with applicable regulatory requirements and best practices
  • Coordinate the risk assessment processes concerning change, both internal (e.g. new products) and external (new regulations) and follow up on recommendations
  • Manage the business continuity program for UPUK and ensure its alignment with applicable regulatory requirements and best practices
  • Provide guidance to the your colleagues in the first line of defence with designing and implementing appropriate controls to strengthen the control environment, mitigate risk and support the business in achieving objectives
  • Manage the process of documenting critical processes of UPUK and with capturing changes from relevant process owners
  • Coordinate risk reporting to the UPUK Board and UPBV Management Board, as well as the Financial Conduct Authority and other stakeholders
  • Establish and manage the Risk Management training program for UPUK and build a strong risk culture within UPUK and Uber relevant teams
  • Support the risk appetite setting process for UPUK
  • Coordinate external and internal audits related to the Risk domain
  • Contribute to UPUK's growth through interviewing, on-boarding, or other recruitment efforts

What You'll Need

  • 7-10 years managerial experience
  • Strong sense of ownership, accountability and entrepreneurial spirit
  • Strong sense of integrity
  • Strong understanding of (a) regulatory requirements related to UPUK's operations, (b) risk concepts and experience with operationalizing such concepts in complex and technical environments
  • Exposure to a dynamic and agile environment
  • Exposure to financial technology
  • Experience working with product and engineering teams in a technology set up
  • Strong connector, comfortable with cross-functional and diverse teams.
