Engineering Manager - Uber Central

About the role:

As an Engineering Manager at Uber, you will be leading a group of engineers working with product managers, data scientists and other engineering teams to build U4B features that are globally used by Uber users. We are Uber's first Tech Center in LATAM and part of the global Engineering team!

About the team:

Uber for Business (U4B) is Uber's strategic focus on enterprise business and Uber Central is one of the fastest growing verticals under U4B. As an engineering manager leading the Uber Central team, you will be building and coaching a team of talented engineers, working closely with cross functional teams to set up the vision and mission of the product, building the technical roadmap and shipping impactful products to our enterprise customers.

Uber Central's vision is to help businesses keep their customers and guests moving with powerful features in one dashboard. Moreover, we have built a HIPAA compliant delegate booking platform supporting various delegate booking use cases. In the next year, we will expand central's offerings to meet enterprises where they are by offering various transportation and delivery solutions and continue to evolve the delegate booking platform.

What You'll Do

  • Build a fullstack engineering team with web and backend engineers from ground up. Hire top talent, coach, mentor and grow the team
  • Set up Uber Central team's product vision, mission and technical roadmaps
  • Provide technical leadership and influence. Partner with your team to architect, design and build systems and platforms that can stand the test of scale and availability, while reducing operational overhead
  • Help define the engineering culture and uphold the processes that will shape the future of the team
  • Have a strong business sense and ability to challenge and partner with product managers and business stakeholders

What You'll Need

  • 3+ years as an engineering manager, 7+ years relevant engineering experience as an engineer
  • Proven track record of setting roadmap and goals for a team and every one of its members, delegating intelligently, mentoring engineers, delivering frequent and transparent feedback, helping team members grow in their careers and driving results
  • Strong software engineering skills on parallel execution of complex technical projects and end to end launching experiences
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write detailed technical documents
