Catalog IC Sr Staff Software Engineer: Backend
About the Role:
Leads efforts within the organization to drive the development and maintenance of backend services and solutions to support user-facing products, downstream services, or infrastructure tools and platforms used across Uber.
About the Team:
The Catalog Experience team is responsible for ingesting, updating, enhancing, optimizing, and serving the core data-structure/dataset that drives all of Uber Eats and our merchant catalogs (restaurant menus. This data structure is exceptionally sophisticated so as to handle the richness of real-life menus and the intricacies of merchant pricing rules.
Our business depends upon maintaining a high quality representation of this data, engineering simple ingestion pipelines and tooling, and supporting high-converting Eater flows. Because the catalog is so central to so much of our business, we need someone who can design for simplicity in a complex domain. They'll understand the system-wide implications of the changes we make, and will work closely with partner teams as we roll out updates.
* PhD or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field **AND** 4-years full-time Software Engineering work experience * **OR **7-years full-time Software Engineering work experience, **WHICH INCLUDES **4-years total technical software engineering experience in one or more of the following areas: * Programming language (e.g. C, C++, Java, Python, or Go)
- Note the 4-years total of specialized software engineering experience may have been gained through education and full-time work experience, additional training, coursework, research, or similar (OR some combination of these). The years of specialized experience are not necessarily in addition to the years of Education & full-time work experience indicated.
