Program Manager, New Verticals

About the Role

We are looking for a Program Manager to join Uber Japan's rapidly growing New Verticals team. This nimble and high performing team is tasked with building a sustainable high growth business as we expand from restaurants to other high growth verticals such as Grocery, Convenience Store, Cosmetics, Pharmacy, Retail segments.

You will be involved in key initiatives that will drive Uber's growth, by managing the launch of our latest products, and by collaborating closely with colleagues and stakeholders around the globe. Program Managers move fluidly from thinking about big picture solutions to nailing the small details so the team can seamlessly deliver on strategic cross-functional projects. This role will work with many external and internal stakeholders, including Sales, Operations, Business Development, Product, and Legal. You are a bridge and a connector for the team, contributing to high-impact, high-visibility projects that keep us moving forward.

What You'll Do

  • Program manage large-scale product launches end-to-end, ensuring market readiness covering regulatory compliance, sales process, operation, and support.
  • Build strong relationships with cross-functional team members and work collaboratively with key partners.
  • Work with the legal and tax team to prepare required assets and the review processes to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Work with the product and integration team to support product development and testing.
  • Proactively and continuously identify critical issues and areas of improvement.

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of program management experience working with diverse sets of teams in high-paced, fast-growing environments.
  • Self-starter with a proven ability to handle large complex projects/programs.
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with exceptional emotional intelligence.
  • Effective in a matrix environment with superior stakeholder management skills. Expert at building strong and productive relationships with people of all functions and levels across the region and the globe, including senior leaders.
  • Superior organizational skills with the ability to juggle many tasks without losing sight of the highest priority items.
  • Attention to detail, and you are constantly looking for ways to tweak and optimize for better results.
  • Data-driven and has analytical expertise.
  • Technical proficiency in Google/Microsoft productivity tools.
  • Business level proficiency in both Japanese and English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with project management tools and software.
  • Understanding of the technical concepts, and engineers enjoy working closely with you.
  • Pre-sales experience with technical products or enough technical knowledge to have high-level technical discussions with customers and engineers.
  • Technical proficiency in SQL.
