Senior Data Scientist / TLM - Ads

The Ads Data Science team provides insights, conducts experiments, establishes metrics and uses statistical methods to advise on opportunities and drive impact. As Lead, you will help build the team and its vision.

Examples of work include providing insights into advertiser retention and churn behaviors, the impact on eaters from displaying ads, or the performance of our auction platform - at times using statistical data analysis and experimentation. All the while, you will serve as a technical lead and mentor to more junior members in the team.

Working alongside applied scientists, engineers, and product managers, you will manage stakeholders to drive consensus while demonstrating technical and analytical skills. If you're passionate about working in a dynamic team, on a new and strategically important product, this is the team for you.

What you'll do

  • Refine ambiguous questions and generate new hypotheses about the product and business through a deep understanding of the data, our customers, and our business
  • Design experiments and interpret the results to draw detailed and impactful conclusions.
  • Define how our teams measure success, by developing user and business metrics, in close partnership with Product and other stakeholders
  • Collaborate with applied scientists and engineers to build and improve on the availability, integrity, accuracy, and reliability of our data and intermediate table
  • Develop new data-driven business insights and work with cross-functional partners to identify opportunities and recommend prioritization of product, growth, and optimization initiatives
  • Mentor more junior members of the team

Basic Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field - engineering, economics, statistics or similar.
  • 3+ year of relevant experience
  • Proficiency with SQL
  • Experience conducting experiment analysis and good comfort with statistical concepts
  • Experience with dashboarding/data visualization tools (i.e. Tableau, Google Data Studio or similar)
  • Experience mentoring teammates

Preferred Qualification

  • Master's degree in a technical field - engineering, economics, statistics or similar.
  • Strong storytelling: distill interesting and hard-to-find insights into a compelling, concise data story
  • 5+ year of relevant experience
  • Management experience
  • Experience presenting findings to senior management
  • Experience with Advertisement and Sponsored listings
  • Proficiency with Python or R
  • Advancedwith experimental design and statistical methods such as causal Inference.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and manage relationships with partners coming from both technical and non-technical backgrounds
  • Strong judgment, critical-thinking, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to solve complex business problems that cross multiple product/project areas and teams
  • Balance attention to detail with swift execution
