Strategic Initiatives Manager, Uber Eats - UKI

Strategy & Planning, Operations
in London, United Kingdom

About The Role

Uber Eats' UK & Ireland Strategic Initiatives team is at the forefront of shaping our future bold bets, launching and growing new propositions and working on strategic cross-functional initiatives.

Uber Eats is hiring for a Strategic Initiatives Manager. We are looking for someone with a strong operational skillset who can think strategically too, to unlock the value of these propositions. These include BYOC (Bring Your Own Courier - where restaurants can leverage the Eats platform but with their own delivery partners), Pick Up, Direct (white label delivery fulfilment for restaurants) and more.

This role is responsible for measuring and improving our operational performance, working closely with Product teams to inform their roadmap and priorities, and driving cross-functional alignment to support the successful growth of these propositions.

This role calls for a combination of deep operational know-how, analytical and technical skills, and project and stakeholder management. We are looking for someone who is able to switch between long-term strategic initiatives one moment and pivot into rapid, tactical actions the next.

What you'll do:

  • Build superior customer experience through operational excellence: dive deep into the customer experience (both from a restaurants and eaters point of view), our tools and our data to build a superior product experience and increase adoption and retention.
  • Grow and shape these propositions: you will inform the strategic direction and ultimately drive the successful adoption of these propositions. You will be responsible for P&L management, including setting growth targets and projects to improve their unit economics.
  • Align stakeholders behind your plans: you will work closely with and drive coordination amongst a wide range of teams to set up our new products for success, from Sales to Support, Account Management, Restaurant Operations and more.
  • Inform the Product roadmap and support new launches: you will provide inputs to Global Product teams and inform the tactical features and strategic priorities our tech should be solving for. You will also be responsible for rolling out new features for these propositions, making Uber Eats an even more compelling offer for restaurant partners.

What you'll need:

  • Degree in Business/Economics, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics).
  • 3+ years of solid operational and analytical experience gained in a tech company, finance, operational management or consulting (analytics track).
  • A bias for data. You naturally take a scientific and highly analytical approach to everything you do with strong attention to detail and accuracy. You know how to use data to make decisions and are experienced with analytical tools:
    • Advanced Excel/Google Sheets proficiency working across large data sets is essential
    • SQL experience a plus - this will be required in your day to day role, but Uber offers a training
  • Strong ability to interpret data and communicate results in a structured and compelling output, e.g., C-suite ready slide decks.
  • Positive and team-orientated "can-do" approach.
  • Able to work and drive action cross-functionally and collaboratively. Very strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
