About the Role

The Global Business Development team strengthens Uber's position as the world's leading Mobility and Delivery platform through strategic and mutually helpful partnerships that unlock outsized value today and for many years to come.

As Head of Tech, Data and Safety partnerships on the Central BD team, you'll have the opportunity to craft and deliver a plan to scale adoption of the Uber platform among hundreds of millions of consumers globally. Reporting to the Head of Central BD, this role spans across all lines of business. The role is high visibility and critical to achieving outsized impact for Uber. You will drive the vital business relationships with key partners across Mapping, Infrastructure, Data, and Safety, as well as liaison with senior Product and Engineering stakeholders to push forward on strategic objectives

  1. Accelerate growth across Mobility, UberEats, Grocery, Uber for Business, Freight and more
  2. Improve the overall user experience at scale through partner integrations for core products and verticals
  3. Expand the category through innovative approaches and agreements
  4. Lead the industry in enhanced Safety for Earners and Riders

In addition, your responsibilities will include managing a small team of talented, and highly motivated BDs across a diverse set of partnership archetypes and deal structures.

What You'll Do

  • Envision new ways that partnerships can positively impact core business objectives by executing on the roadmap across key markets, verticals, and opportunities best aligned through Tech and Data
  • Lead our most impactful Technology partnerships driving growth, expansion of our category, and delivering delightful journey
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering leaders to ensure best-in-class customer experiences across our top priorities
  • Lead a small but high-performing team through the entire partner lifecycle including identification, sourcing, relationship building, due diligence, negotiation, post-close execution, partner management, and partnership expansion
  • Anticipate challenges, remove blockers, and build the set of conditions necessary for the success of Uber overall
  • Get results in a dynamic business and technical environment including the skills to communicate, collaborate and influence all levels and functions of the organization
  • Set, track and report on partner performance metrics and give business reviews to Uber's C-level management team regarding progress

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience sourcing, structuring, negotiating, and executing complex strategic partnerships and/or other transactions across Mapping technologies
  • 15 plus years of experience in Business Development and/or Strategic Partnerships
  • Experience with establishing, maintaining, and using C-level relationships at partner companies and extensive senior-level relationships with business leaders across mapping technology and mobility

Preferred Qualifications

  • The successful candidate will bring, through past successes, immediate credibility as an accomplished business leader and specialist
  • Data and Safety verticals experience preferred
  • Consistent track record of attracting, developing and retaining diverse talent at all levels

  • Ability to flex between growing large-scale core initiatives that drive impact in the near term and to initiate new results-oriented endeavors that will generate future returns
  • Fuse strategy, finance, marketing, and legal concepts to create wide-ranging deals

  • Ability to handle a volume of engagements and the fast pace of Uber
  • Solicits the involvement of the team in building a sense of ownership
  • Must have the confidence to act quickly and critically when it requires such agility
  • Fuse strategy, finance, marketing and legal concepts to create multifaceted deals
  • Able to balance the role of the strategist with urgency while simultaneously handling delivering results in a growing and very fast-paced environment
  • MBA or equivalent
