Uber Elevate Research Intern

About the Role

Uber Elevate's Advanced Technologies Center (ATCP), based in Paris (France), develops frontier knowledge in artificial intelligence and software systems with a target application on urban aerial mobility.

We are looking for research scientist interns (typically 6 months) to contribute to our exciting research projects that will make aerial ridesharing at scale a reality in the coming years: graduate students with skills in machine learning, machine perception, optimization, software verification and safety will thrive in a state-of-the-art research environment connected to the latest advances in urban air mobility.

Also, there will be the opportunity for master's students to continue with a CIFRE PhD.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct a research project in one of the following domains
  • Machine learning for transportation systems (graph-based models)
  • Learning from simulation (including validation of simulation-based results)
  • Robust perception (sensor fusion, adversarial attacks...)
  • Improving & assessing safety of AI-based systems (robustness, stability...)
  • Certification processes and properties
  • Uncertainty handling
  • Large scale optimization
  • Distributed optimization & negotiation algorithms

What You'll Need

  • Actively pursuing a Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline
  • Demonstrated software engineering experience through previous internships, work experience, coding competitions, and/or publications
  • Programming experience :one or more application or systems languages (Go, Python, Ruby, Java, C, C++, etc)
  • A commitment to writing understandable, maintainable, and reusable software
  • Research skills in a relevant area for ATCP
