Uber Eats Policy Manager, EMEA

Public Policy
in Amsterdam, Netherlands

About Uber

Uber is a venture-funded startup headquartered in San Francisco. We are a global mobility and logistics technology platform: our flagship service allows users to request quality, on-demand rides and food with a touch of their smartphone and we are rapidly developing new products. We are present in over 450+ cities worldwide, including over 50+ cities in EMEA with plans to rapidly expand in the region. We have already found strong product market fit with a world changing service, but we're only just getting started.

Uber Eats delivers the best of your city right when you want it. Our curated menus feature dishes from the local spots you love and the ones you've always wanted to try. It's the same cashless payment as an Uber ride. So just tap the app, get your food delivered right to your doorstep and enjoy!

Providing amazing support for eaters, restaurants and couriers, our community, is a core feature of our product experience. We invest in it, and believe in providing the highest quality service executed in the smartest, most efficient way.

About policy at Uber

Our team is responsible for telling Uber's story to politicians, regulators and third parties: whether it's transforming the lives of people who value independent, flexible work; or changing people's eating habits to be healthier and creating less waste.

That's partly about building lasting relationships with the key decision makers in every country where we operate. It also about being creative in how we tell our story and working with the communications team to develop campaigns that make the positive case for change.

About this Role

We are looking for someone to manage policy for Uber Eats in EMEA. You will report directly to our head of EMEA Public Policy and lead implementation of European campaigns agreed with Uber Eats lead in SF. This role will be based in Amsterdam and will involve:

  • Lead policy execution for Uber Eats across EMEA, working closely with the Uber policy and UberEATS teams across the region and in San Francisco;
  • Promoting Uber Eats products and establishing the Uber Eats' brand and profile with the media; and
  • Working to tell our Uber Eats story in creative, inspiring ways that resonate with journalists and on social media.
  • Partnering with global and regional teams to build stakeholder engagement strategies, and campaigns, that promote and enhance the overall reputation of Uber Eats

What We're Looking For

  • _A self starter: _Uber is a company of entrepreneurs and we want to work with people who enjoy building things from the bottom up too. Stuff changes fast in our world so you'll need to be highly adaptable as well as calm under pressure;
  • A great advocate: We're looking for people who can distill complex ideas into simple, but intellectually credible, arguments. You'll need to write well and have the creative ability to tell stories--about our product, people and the ways we're helping to improve life for customers, couriers and cities.
  • _A strong campaigner: _Smartphone apps are disruptive, and the interests being disrupted are deeply entrenched. We succeed by putting together effective campaigns with third parties on behalf of the restaurants, couriers and customers. That means you'll have a bias for action in everything you do--and a willingness to engage in debates, that can often become heated.
  • A team player: Success at Uber depends on the ability to organise different teams (internally and externally) around shared goals. It's why we're looking for well organised people who enjoy working with others to get stuff done--and who can deal with the ambiguity that sometimes comes from working cross-functionally.

Ideally you would have 8 + years policy or public affairs experience. But we're open to people with experience in other walks of life (e.g. marketing, journalism, the law), who intuitively get this stuff and are interested in pursuing a different career.
