How to get started as a courier

Getting started making deliveries through the Uber Eats app takes a few weeks. To avoid delays, make sure you have the correct documents, complete the background check and follow the instructions sent to you via email and sms.

Add your personal details and select the vehicle

  • Bicycle
  • Motorbike or Scooter
  • Car

Submit your Documents

Document requirements depend on the vehicle, see below.

To upload documents, use your app or sign in to partners.uber.com to visit your partner dashboard. When you upload an image, make sure:

  • the document image is clear
  • all text is readable
  • all 4 corners of the document are visible

Complete a Background Check

After you sign up for a courier account you will receive an email asking you to complete your background check.

Please note our partner may require you to provide a separate set of documents to complete both the right to work and the basic disclosure check. These may be the same as the documents you have submitted to your Uber profile.

If you have not received the email, first check your spam or junk folder then contact the Uber support team at help.uber.com

Here's what you need to become a courier in the United Kingdom using Uber

    • Be at least 18 years old

    Required documents:

    1. EU/UK driving licence

    • Front and back

    2. DVLA electronic counterpart check code (if using a UK driving licence)

    3. Bank statement

    • dated within last 3 months

    4. Car insurance certificate

    • Must cover food delivery or hire and reward not excluding food delivery
    • Be at least 18 years old
    • Any make or model scooter

    Required documents:

    1. EU/UK driving licence

    • Front and back
    • Provisional licence? Add your CBT certificate

    2. DVLA electronic counterpart check code (if using a UK driving licence)

    3. Bank statement

    • dated within last 3 months

    4. Car insurance certificate

    • Must cover food delivery or hire and reward not excluding food delivery
    • Be at least 18 years old
    • When signing up, make sure you choose 'Bicycle' under transportation method.

    Required documents:

    1. Photo ID

    One of the following:

    • Passport (from any country)
    • Driving licence (only from EU and UK)
    • EU citizen/identity card

    2. DVLA electronic counterpart check code (If using a UK driving licence)

    3. Bank statement

    • dated within last 3 months

The Driver app

If you want to sign up for a courier account, you’ll download the same app as drivers who choose to use the Uber app. Uber’s Driver app is easy to use and gives you information that can help you make the most of the time on the Uber app while you’re getting paid to deliver food.

  • Absolutely. You can sign up to deliver by using the form at the top of this page, either by filling out the form with the details of your existing account or by tapping Already have an account? Log in. Then consent to a screening, upload the required documents, submit a photo of yourself, and download the Driver app. After you get a notification that you have an active courier account, you can start getting delivery requests.

You can decide whether you want a traditional full-time or part-time delivery or courier job, or whether you want the flexibility to work independently wherever you want – or even do both.

  • Your safety is a top priority. Uber has a global safety team dedicated to doing our part to help prevent incidents. Plus, we’ve put in place new guidelines since the pandemic began. For instance, if your Uber Eats customer requests it, you can leave their delivery at their door to help reduce contact.   • Requirements vary depending on whether you’re driving a car or a moped or you’re cycling.
