We are currently searching for a high calibre Company Secretary to lead and manage our corporate governance and company secretarial needs in EMEA. You will report directly to the Associate General Counsel for EMEA and be based at Uber’s international headquarters in Amsterdam. However, you’ll also be expected to be willing to travel across the world where needed.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Work closely with our AGC and other members of the legal department globally on corporate governance and company secretarial matters.
Manage, develop and lead a team of legal professionals.
Be the point of contact across corporate governance and company secretarial issues for the business in EMEA as well as for teams at our global HQ in San Francisco and a point of escalation for our regional legal teams.
Provide thought leadership and guidance on all areas of corporate governance for our EMEA entities (over 100 currently) ensuring that we have the correct structures in place and the right people, properly briefed, in positions of board responsibility,
Ensure board meetings are properly prepared and conducted (including liaising with non-executive directors as needed).
With our existing Corporate team in Amsterdam, efficiently manage company secretarial issues for the region, ensuring timely and accurate filings.
Assisting with audit and reporting requirements across the region and beyond.
Providing company secretarial support on M&A projects.
Take responsibility for ensuring we have the right processes and tools available to enable the team’s capability to scale as the business does.
Provide strategic and proactive advice to internal business groups. It’s our job to peer round corners for the business and ensure that we are well positioned for the future.
Effectively and efficiently manage outside counsel where necessary.
Understand, interpret and apply current regulations as applicable to Uber’s business models in the region and your areas of responsibility.

WHAT YOU NEED
Significant experience at a leading law firm or in-house (ideally 8+ years)
Strong academic credentials to degree level. Law degree or other relevant qualification (e.g. Chartered Secretary) from a top law school or university
Excellent knowledge of current company secretarial/corporate governance practice, at both detailed and summary level
Proven corporate governance experience of Board and Committee meetings.
Excellent business judgment, communication and interpersonal skills

Credible and professional
Fluent in written and spoken English. Any other relevant languages are an advantage too.
