About the Role

Delivering a first class, on-demand meal delivery experience has created new competition in cities around the world that have not seen significant innovation in decades. We are in over 600 cities worldwide with Rides and the Uber Eats business is growing super fast. That’s why we are looking for an experienced in-house Counsel with a strong generalist background and proven track record of success to support and help lead growing our Uber Eats business across Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

This is a once-in-a-career opportunity to join a global legal team integral to a preeminent technology company engaged in cutting edge issues, and focused on solving some of the biggest challenges in the world. This position will be based in Amsterdam.

What You’ll Do


  • Be a trusted advisor to the business, and provide critical legal and strategic input on a wide range of complex issues.
  • Work closely with our Amsterdam based Uber Eats teams, and other regional and global commercial and legal team members on all legal and regulatory aspects of the Uber Eats business as well as broader commercial issues. Areas of particular relevance include, commercial contracts, consumer issues, privacy, tax, competition (anti-trust), regulation, new market entry, employment and IP. So, that’s pretty much everything!
  • Working with the other members of the legal team, it’ll be up to you to make sure the Uber Eats teams across the EMEA region have the right advice when they need it.
  • Provide strategic and proactive legal advice to internal stakeholders, and effectively manage outside counsel to achieve objectives across the EMEA region.
  • Partner closely with the business teams to ensure strategic alignment and the successful execution of important regional initiatives. Evaluate general communications, press releases, often on deadlines in response to recent events, to ensure factual accuracy and compliance with applicable laws.


What You’ll Need


  • A minimum of 5 years of legal experience. The ideal background includes a combination of private practice and in-house experience with a large technology or consumer facing company.
  • Highly motivated, creative, entrepreneurial, and laser-focused on the details; able to juggle multiple projects at a time in a fast-paced environment, while collaborating as a team to stay in sync and working independently to get the job done.
  • Strong academic credentials and a law degree from a top law school.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English, and a crisp writing style. Other languages are a plus!
  • Excellent business judgment and interpersonal skills (outgoing, down-to-earth, and with a good sense of humour).
