About the Role

 

We are looking to add a motivated Reporting Associate with a can-do attitude to our EMEA Team. The selected candidate will be a core part of a fast growing team that will be in charge of Uber’s tax and reporting compliance for EMEA, specifically leaning towards indirect taxes. The Reporting Associate must have solid financial knowledge, who knows the importance of “doing things right” and communicating findings in a clear and concise manner. You will be based in Amsterdam.

 

The role will report to the Financial Reporting Manager and work closely with other members of the reporting and tax team. Supporting the Global Accounting function, this position has a mix of operational and project based responsibilities including but not limited to those listed below.


The selected candidates for this position will have experience in indirect tax filings at other large (public or private) companies or at a one of the Big Four. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate they were top performers at their level.

What You’ll Do:

 

  • Preparation of various deliverables to support both internal and external financial reporting needs, especially as it relates to indirect tax compliance,  including analytic commentary and the preparation of supplementary financial analysis for management and other stakeholders
  • Maintain a project plan and calendar for all compliance deliverables to ensure adherence to all deadlines, monitor status, and communicate any concerns and anticipated issues
  • Preparation and review of monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and annual financial statements
  • Direct responsibility for improving accounting processes and controls for a business with a high volume of transactions
  • Actively participating in cross functional project launches from scoping through to testing and launch
  • Keep up to date on upcoming changes to the compliance landscape and determines how these changes will impact the existing compliance process

 

What You’ll Need:

 

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA/CA/ACCA/equivalent qualification preferred
  • 5+ years professional experience, big 4 experience is a strong plus
  • A strong understanding of fundamental accounting concepts and principles as well as a good understanding of indirect tax
  • Team player, have ability to work independently and a strong desire to exceed expectations
  • Great communication skills and ability to communicate key information and status to stakeholders
  • The ability to interact with all departments and levels of staff throughout Uber
  • Solid organizational, project management skills, and information technology aptitude (Oracle R12 is preferred)

 

About the Team

 

As Uber continues to grow, our Reporting Team also continues to expand to meet new business challenges and the demands of stakeholders. The Tax Team builds scalable and well controlled processes to support timely and accurate financial and statutory reporting and ensure compliance with regional and local tax regulations.
