About the job:
This role requires bold design leadership, depth in interaction and service design, principled thinking, a refusal to settle, and a user-centered design approach. You’ll work with engineers and product managers in a fast-paced, rapidly growing, hybrid technology/operations environment to design in-app customer experiences to engender trust among our users and create experiences that contribute to the safety of our customers, globally. You’ll own hands-on design across multiple initiatives, while helping lay the foundation for strong product development in Latin America. You should be comfortable in uncharted territory as we build a new design presence in São Paulo and as you design unique safety technologies for riders, drivers, eaters, and delivery partners – customers across the entire Uber ecosystem.
What You’ll Do
Establish and lead the product design discipline for Uber in Sao Paulo
Collaborate with stakeholders and other designers around the globe
Own design problems end to end, from initial concept through shipping and beyond
Create wireframes and prototypes to solve difficult UX problems
Obsess over the details of visual and motion design
Work with product managers to define products (requirements, strategic functionality, bold bets), not just translate them into design execution
Identify future opportunities, working as a key thought partner to your counterparts in product management, engineering, and operations
Partner with our UX research team to better understand the needs of our customers
Collaborate with Engineers to build your amazing designs
Ship, measure, and improve your designs based on quantitative and qualitative feedback
Brainstorm and iterate with your design colleagues to help raise the bar on the Rides, and Eats experience
What you will need:
Experience leading product design – at least 5 years
Ability to solve complex design problems for global markets
A portfolio showing your high quality, thoughtful UI and UX work
Effective prototyping skills
A track record of shipping great design, and an understanding of what details matter at each stage of the release cycle
Leverage Uber design patterns while evolving the framework to tackle new use cases
Demonstrated understanding of service design/systems thinking and integrating products/services across a platform
Be a collaborative team player
5 Minimum Years of Experience with Mobile design, User Experience, User Interface
About the Team
Our product development team in Sao Paulo is new and growing fast – you’ll be one of the first product designers there. Building on your knowledge of the local market and extending it to a global focus, you’ll collaborate with researchers, product managers, data scientists, engineers and other designers on some of the most exciting projects in our apps. You’ll lead the team in bridging the physical and digital, solving end-to-end service and product design problems and pushing the envelope to help Uber stand for safety around the world. You’ll provide the team with strong design leadership.
