Sr Product Manager - Rider - Pickup/Dropoff Experience

Product Management, Product en San Francisco, CA

At Uber, we ignite opportunity by setting the world in motion. We take on big problems to help drivers, riders, delivery partners, and eaters get moving in more than 600 cities around the world.

We welcome people from all backgrounds who seek the opportunity to help build a future where everyone and everything can move independently. If you have the curiosity, passion, and collaborative spirit, work with us, and let’s move the world forward, together.

About the Role

As the Pickup, Dropoff, and On-Trip Experience Lead, you would lead the team and the efforts responsible for the bread and butter of Uber as a service. This includes all of the mechanisms that we provide riders to set their “A” & “B” in a trip request, as well as all of the tools we provide riders to get to their “A” & “B” successfully post-request.

These products set the foundation to answer complex questions like: How do we determine the best pickup & dropoff points for riders, and present them in the most cohesive way possible in the experience? How might we enable local teams to curate targeted pickups & dropoffs in especially complex physical & regulatory environments? How might we better facilitate communication between riders & drivers after the request for a seamless pickup? What engagement opportunities do we have with riders after they’re in the car?

You’ll work as the lead on this overall product group, while also liaising with marketing, partnership, policy, and many other teams to deliver magical experiences.

The role demands technical depth, principled thinking, well-honed product instincts, a refusal to settle, true innovation, and a high quality bar for what goes out to the worl

What You’ll Do

  • Own the end consumer experience for everything pickups-and-dropoffs in the rider app. This includes the UI/UX for allowing users to set pickup & dropoff locations, as well as the mechanisms that we utilize to assist users with this selection. This also includes tools that are meant to help the rider & driver find each other post-request, and rider engagement mechanisms post-request.
  • Partner with design, research, data science, and other PM stakeholders to understand how we can better meet rider needs & expectations in the overall request & trip flow.
  • Understand, synthesize, and help set the strategy for pickups & dropoffs as a broader tech team.

What You’ll Need

  • Minimum 7+ years experience delivering highly successful and innovative products with your fingerprints all over them -- and you're deeply proud of what you've accomplished
  • A passion for user experience: you can both guide design priorities for the team, and have a good sense for experience principles
  • Computer science undergraduate degree or equivalent, ideally including hands-on software engineering experience. Technical understanding must go from the highest abstractions down to the metal
  • "Driver" personality. You are biased toward action, a great collaborator, a master disambiguator/simplifier, and constantly pushing toward clarity and delivery
  • Grittiness. You never hesitate to roll up your sleeves and take on something hands-on.
  • High emotional intelligence. You're able to lead, coach and share feedback with positivity and optimism. Experience managing other product managers, growing their careers and improving their performance

About the Team

The pickup, dropoff & on-trip experience teams are responsible for the experiences that allow riders to set the “A” and “B” in their trip, as well as mechanisms to ensure they get to “A” and “B” successfully. From designing fundamental UI frameworks to deep platform & ML work, the team works on a wide breadth of projects to ensure riders can get to where they want to go seamlessly.
