Request When you’re Ready

October 2, 2017 / Singapore

Our aim is to give both our riders and driver-partners a smooth Uber experience, every time. When you request a ride, our driver-partners make the effort to arrive at your pickup location on time.  As a rider, we’d like to encourage you to only request a ride when you’re near the pickup location and ready to meet the driver.

To ensure that our driver-partners get their due for the time spent on the road, we’re introducing wait-time charges. Wait-time charges will now apply after 3 minutes of your driver arriving at the pickup location.

1) Once your driver-partner arrives at your pickup location, a push notification will be sent to you communicating his/her arrival. (Make sure you’ve enabled receiving push notifications from Uber under mobile settings)
2) Your driver-partner will wait for 3 minutes after arriving at the location, after which wait-time charges will kick in
3) Wait-time charges are applicable on uberX, uberXL, UberExec and ExecLarge

Wait time Wait-time charges*
0- 3 minutes No charge
> 3 minutes From SGD0.20/min on uberX
From SGD0.35/min on uberXL
From SGD0.45/min on UberEXEC
From SGD0.60/min on EXECLarge

*Your wait time will be subject to dynamic pricing when demand is high.

Your wait-time charges will be prorated. This means, if you arrive 30 seconds after your wait-time charges kick in, you will only be charged SGD0.10. This additional charge will reflect on your receipt after the trip.

To ensure that riders are not unfairly charged when the drivers are not at the pickup location, we have set the timer to begin only when the driver is at the pickup location. If the driver has not yet reached the pickup location, wait-time charges will not apply.

Your driver-partner is just around the corner to pick you up when you need a ride. All you need to do is request when you’re ready, and your ride will be at your doorstep in minutes to take you where you need to be.
