Lung Cancer Awareness Month

November 7, 2016 / Saudi Arabia

Did you know that in KSA, lung cancer is the 5th most common cancer among males, and the 13th most common cancer among females? And that 83% of lung cancers in the Kingdom are attributed to smoking?

That’s why, for the month of November, we are partnering with Saudi Cancer Society to help raise awareness about lung cancer. Here’s a few important facts to keep in mind:

  • People who smoke cigarettes are 10-30 times more likely to get lung cancer or die from it than those who don’t.
  • Exposure to secondhand smoke irritates the airways and has harmful effects on a person’s heart and blood vessels.
  • If someone smokes in a car, the toxins build up – even when the windows are open or the air conditioner is on.
  • Secondhand smoke is particularly harmful to children and pregnant women

So, the next time you’re riding in an Uber, be considerate of your and others’ health: refrain from smoking and encourage others to do the same. It’s a small step to take to help make your Uber ride a healthier one.
