What is Uber?

Uber is a technology platform. Our smartphone app connects driver-partners and riders. How do you download the app & apply promo codes?

  2. Download the Uber app on your smartphone using one of the following links:

  4. Do you have a promo code? Here’s how to apply it
    • Open the hamburger menu in the upper left side of the screen
    • Select “Payment”
    • Tap “Add Promo/Gift code”
    • Write down the promo code
    • Press “Add” –  the code will be automatically applied to your Uber account

How to request a ride?

  1. Open the app and use the slider at the top of your screen to select a vehicle option.
  2. In the ”Where To?” box enter your destination
    • Your pickup location is set automatically, but if you want to change your pickup location you can by either:
      • Moving the map to drop your pin on a desired location
      • Typing the exact address or selecting an address from search results
    • Select the option that you prefer

    • Tap “Request” and wait for your driver to accept your request. When your request has been accepted, you’ll see your driver’s location on your map, along with an ETA. Your app notifies you about one minute before your driver should arrive.
    • Once you reach your destination, the only thing you do is hop in. It’s cashless and you don’t have to tip. Shortly after getting out of the car, you will receive a receipt presenting the cost, the distance, your route, as well as information about the driver3. Uber_Sumar

  • Access your online rider account at https://riders.uber.com/trips

What’s the cost?

Uber fares are always transparent, and the price you pay at the end of your trip is the sum of the base fare + number of minutes x per minute rate + number of kilometers x per km fare. Please find below the Uber fares in Tomania:

  • Bucharest – uberX: Base fare 1,3 RON + per minute fare 0,22 RON + per km fare 1,3 RON
  • Bucharest – UberSELECT (luxury option): Base fare 1,65 RON + per minute fare 0,28 RON + per km fare 1,65 RON
  • Bucharest – UberFAMILY (childseat option): Base fare 1,45 RON + per minute fare 0,26 RON + per km fare 1,45 RON + 10 RON standard fare
  • Cluj – uberX: Base fare 1,7RON + per minute fare 0,2 RON + per km fare 1,7 RON
  • Timișoara – uberX: Base fare 1,75RON + per minute fare 0,3 RON + per km fare 1,75 RON
  • Brașov – uberX: Base fare 1,5RON + per minute fare 0,2 RON + per km fare 1,5 RON
  • Brașov – uberSKI: Base fare 11,5RON + per minute fare 0,2 RON + per km fare 1,5 RON

What is surge pricing

When many riders in an area of the city are requesting rides at the same time, surge pricing automatically helps ensure you can receive the quick and convenient pickup you rely on. Your app notifies you when surge pricing is in effect. Look for a lightning bolt symbol on the map and next to available vehicle options on the slider at the bottom of your screen.

After you set up your pickup location, your app will confirm if surge pricing is in effect, displaying a whole number and decimal (for example, 1.3x meand the final fare you’ll pay will be 1.3x higher as the normal fare). You may also be asked to type the surge multiplier to confirm that you accept it.
