About the Role


Your job will be to enhance our effectiveness by providing day-to-day support, representing the team. The role is based in Mexico, reporting to the Tax Technology & Operations Leader, you will be responsible for supporting the team in multiple tasks and projects.

What You’ll Do


  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of the product and business and assess all tax and accounting aspects of new business lines and initiatives
  • Support launches in multiple countries by identifying and documenting tax requirements
  • Have an understanding of the requirements (and changes to) US GAAP to STAT conversion for assigned entities and support with the review of US GAAP to STAT adjustments entries, ensuring that they are processed in the STAT books timely.
  • Analyze “big data” and present results to tax leadership
  • Provide bi-weekly reports: short-term and long-term product forecasts, project/business status, potential tax risks and special reports and analyses;
  • Implement controls and ensure accurate financial and tax reporting
  • Help in the review of monthly and annual returns for Mexico and South Cone.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to the lines of businesses for global tax requirements including VAT, CIT, Withholding Tax, Sales and Use Tax, GST, self-assessed taxes, supplier and customer tax withholding, payments and PE risks
  • Analyze the process as it applies to the business, including the tax documentation and partner driver compliance requirements for multiple Uber entities in the region
  • Review tax filings prepared by compliance partner and ensure payment is subsequently made to tax authority in Mexico and South Cone.
  • Prepare root cause and gap analyses for current state financial processes including local compliance with local statutory and tax requirements
  • Develop the regional and global governance model for all product initiatives to align on project prioritization


What You’ll Need


  • A minimum of 4 years of experience is expected in finance/accounting experience in Big 4, but we will consider other candidates if they meet our other requirements
  • Knowledge of direct and indirect taxes
  • Demonstrated experience of leading regional projects with measurable business impact
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with tight timelines
  • Self-driven with great attention to detail, project management and organizational skills and demonstrates ownership
  • Work independently to research and resolve individual inquiries related to such requests liaising with accounting and tax as needed.
  • Excellent computer skills in MS Office, Onesource and Oracle
