Over the past few months, we have rolled out features for drivers with the goal of improving their overall experience. Today, we’re introducing additional features to ensure control and peace of mind, helping to keep all driver-partners safe before, during, and after every trip.
Introducing Rider Identification
We believe that technology can help us lean into safety in new ways for our drivers, riders and for the hundreds of cities we passionately serve. Because of this, we are rolling out a new identification check that will require new riders without an electronic payment method on file to verify their Facebook account as an alternative way to verify their identity.
This feature is particularly relevant for cash-based trips. This builds on our rider and driver guidelines, star ratings, and feedback systems in the Uber app that help ensure the safety of our community.
“The LTFRB is supportive of Uber’s initiative to launch Rider Identification. This is one of the outcomes of the Safety and Security Technical Working Group meetings conducted by the LTFRB together with the TNCs, TNVS leaders, PNP-HPG, MMDA, and Red Cross. This will hopefully provide an additional layer of security for our TNVS drivers who provide service to the riding public,” said LTFRB Board Member Aileen Lizada.
The safety of the Uber community has always been important to us, and this 2018, expect us to continue creating new features and programs to improve the experience of all driver-partners and riders on the platform.
