About the Role
As an Autonomy Test Scenario Engineer, you will be part of a team responsible for designing the scenarios that will simulate behavior of our vehicles and surrounding actors. You will be interpreting results and understanding areas of improvement to make autonomous technology ready for the road. You will support other ATG efforts with clear and concise data that provides unambiguous feedback so autonomy engineering and technical leaders make the right choices. You will maintain awareness of new features and define the processes and mechanisms to verify performance of all relevant scenarios before the software releases.
What You’ll Do
Design scenarios for simulating autonomous vehicle behavior
Ensure we are building safety into our autonomy products
Remove ambiguity of what needs to be tested and how to interpret result data
Collaborate with autonomy engineers to refine scenario and metrics requirements
Participate in software discussions and stay on top of all new features
Compare on-road performance to simulations generated using up-to-date software
Generate reports summarizing and communicating software performance
Help craft advanced simulation tools and frameworks to measure autonomy progress
What You’ll Need
BS/MS Degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics or related STEM field
Experience working with Unix/Linux systems and a familiarity working on the command line
Able to work in an exciting and dynamic environment
Work with others to find solutions to ill-defined problems
Clear and succinct communication skills and ability to bridge the gap between product and technical groups
Empathy and passion for building relationships with other teams while effectively providing feedback
Bonus Points If
Experience creating 3D virtual environments (e.g. game maps, virtual reality realms, etc.)
Experience using software testing infrastructure and software simulation frameworks
2+ years of experience working in any of the following roles: Systems Engineering, Test Engineering, Simulation Engineering, Software Development Engineer in Test
