About the Team

The Uber Freight business is expanding internationally for the first time. The freight industry in the European Union has a unique set of strategic and operational challenges.


In the role of Head of Coverage, Carrier Operations, you will have a direct impact on the quality and profitability of the loads moved with Uber Freight’s platform across Europe by leading and inspiring a team of multilanguage Carrier Sales agents. This role calls for a rare combination of team leadership, performance management mindset and operational excellence, to focus on delivering excellent service in the loads we move across Europe.


The person will surface frontline and impactful issues while working closely with our Account, Local, Central and Expansion teams to deliver on quality of service and margin, whilst being on the lookout for more permanent and scalable solutions. This role is ultimately responsible for making sure we have an optimal approach to covering loads, and improving business efficiency through traditional, app and tech coverage and tracking.

What You’ll Do:

  • Strategy. How do we define our approach to load coverage? What business levers should we pull to increase efficiency and quality quickly? How do you collaborate with Local and Central Carrier Operations and CommOps teams to put in place effective day-to-day operations?
  • Team Management.  Grow and develop a team of Carrier Sales agents to deliver on our quality metrics. Lead and motivate a multi-language team by instilling a performance mindset and setting ambitious targets
  • Operational Excellence. Use your industry experience paired with Uber-powered analytics to efficiently cover loads across Europe; you will be responsible for quality metrics, margin, and tech adoption
  • Develop & Optimize Processes. Take big picture ideas and projects and break them into actionable steps with aggressive timelines for completion
  • Automate/scale - Work hand in hand with our Central Operations Team to ensure scalable processes are automated, systematised or centralised.
  • Stakeholder Management. Manage business stakeholders to solve operational problems and build solutions. You will set and give guidance to local Operations teams who will be the extended arm to this central function.
  • Product Improvement. Pro-actively search for bugs and help pilot new features which could improve a seamless carrier and shipper experience.
  • Perseverance. Take ownership of Uber Freight's growth, even when faced with obstacles along the way.

What You’ll Need:

  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience managing Carrier accounts in the logistics industry
  • Demonstrated ability to build, scale and lead a large team effectively
  • Strong business acumen and ability to leverage tactical decision making framework
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to lead and manage cross-functional stakeholders on multiple projects at a time
  • Bachelor's Degree, MBA or relevant masters degree a plus
  • Familiarity with local logistics industry is a must
