How to drive with Uber

Uber is a great way to be your own boss and earn extra cash. Most folks are eligible to drive on the Uber platform—here’s what you need to know.

Minimum Requirements

Most people can drive with Uber, even if they do not have a commercial license. Requirements may differ depending on the city but there are some standard requirements:

  • You must be at least 21 years old
  • Have a Competent Driver's License
  • No criminal record

Required Documents

Before you drive, upload the following documents. If you are using your own car, you will need to provide proof of insurance.

  • Competent Driver's License
  • MyKad (IC)
  • Insurance Cover Note (when using your own vehicle)

Background Check

After registration, we will check your driving record and conduct a Background Check.

Vehicle Requirements

Peninsular Malaysia

  • Not more than 10 years old

Once e-hailing regulations are enforced, the maximum vehicle age allowed on the Uber platform will be 7 years old. Find out more information here.

  • Not more than 10 years old
