Monday is the most common day to report a lost personal belonging
Everyone has experienced that moment of panic when you realize you forgot a personal item on a plane, bus, train, and in many cases, your Uber. To acknowledge Uber’s most forgetful riders, we’ve created The Uber Lost & Found Index.
The Uber Lost & Found Index is a snapshot of our riders’ most commonly forgotten items (there are thousands every week globally!) – from keys to chargers to wallets – and the most surprising items left behind. It also highlights which days of the week Uber riders tend to be most forgetful.
All over the world, there are riders who have left everything from bullet-proof vests and potted plants, to pool sticks and kites. In Malaysia, we have had a fair share of lost items that were reported. Our riders never cease to surprise us!
And which day of the week do Uber riders tend to be most forgetful? We see the most reports in the US it is on Sundays, presumably from items lost the night before. But in Malaysia, it is no surprise it’s on a Monday. It must be the reason for Monday blues for some!
Here’s a list of top 10 things commonly forgotten and left behind in Uber rides in Malaysia.
- Keys and Access Cards
- Electronic Cigarettes
- Clothes & Apparels
- Phone Accessories
- Cap/Safety Helmet
Our data also tells us that the most common day to report a lost item in Malaysia is a Monday. One can only wonder why this is the case, but we’ll leave that to your imagination.
Here’s another thing we discovered – Sunday is the least likely day for riders to report a lost item, not only in Malaysia, but all over the world. We could assume that most people enjoy their weekends that they may not realise a lost personal belonging until the week starts again on Monday. True or not, we’ll let you decide.
The most commonly forgotten items seem to be similar in Malaysia and around the world. These items look like must-haves for many people, but strangely, they’re the most commonly left behind!
Here’s the top 5 we found.
- Mobile Phones
- Keys and access cards
- Phone accessories (charger)
There are some pretty unique (weird, even!) items that people all over the world have lost on Uber rides. We totally understand when people contact Uber’s Support or the driver-partners to retrieve them, but we can’t help but share the humour when discovering what these items are.
Here are just a few that we’d like to share for your reading pleasure.
- Lobster (you read that right!)
- Engagement ring
- Wedding outfit
- Back massage device
- Harry Potter glasses
- Mustard sauce (yum!)
- Potted plant
- Arm sling
