Win free rides worth RM50 with Ipoh Mural Project!

March 6, 2018 / Ipoh

Uber is focused on keeping people and cities moving, no matter what. As part of our continuous effort to facilitate safe and reliable rides in Malaysia, we work hand in hand with cities to achieve success together. To begin to visualise our vision, we created the Ipoh Mural Project: a partnership with two visual artists to bring a bit of magic in reflecting Uber’s values through art, portrayed in the form of wall murals. The artists kick-started Ipoh Mural Project on 2 March 2018 at a renown tourist attraction and a favourite nom spot for locals, known as the Old Town street and saw its completion this week on 14 March 2018.

Like all good partnerships, we’re proud to team up with artists who are ready to work together to make great things happen. More about the artists below:

Nicholas Choong

Nicholas is no stranger to the local visual arts and design scene, mainly for his experience with big brands, agencies and firms as their go-to conceptual artist. Using his distinct visual language and decorative style, he works in a series-based format and is known for his strong ink and line work. After many years in the entertainment and graphics industry, he kick-started a new profession as a career artist in 2011 with his first solo show at the Epicenter Art Gallery in Petaling Jaya. In the present time, Nick’s works can be found displayed in galleries and in the homes of private collectors all over the globe — London, New York, Italy, Korea, and Hong Kong to name a few.

Being a huge fan of mixed media, Sukor delves into the idea of using various methods to explore the untapped possibilities of space, colour and light — rendered in either 2D or 3D realms. Sukor is one of the finalists in the Young Contemporary Art Award by the National Visual Arts Gallery in 2013 where he won a Gold Award in Invention, Innovation and Design Competition in Terengganu in 2012. He has been actively exhibiting his artworks in both national and international art scenes since 2008. His notable works have been featured in various malls and galleries, including Avenue K, Publika, Galeri Petronas and National Visual Arts Gallery.
