As wildfires continue to spread across California, the lives and homes of so many residents are threatened. Nearly a quarter of a million people are under evacuation orders or warnings, and more than one million acres have burned as the fires continue to rage.

We are committed to using the power of the Uber platform to help the communities that are hurting and to support the firefighters and first responders who continue to battle hundreds of wildfires across the state. That’s why we are reacting quickly to provide:

  • Free rides for residents: As of today, we will offer free rides to anyone in cities that have been affected by the wildfires. These include: San Mateo, Salinas, Aptos, Soquel, Santa Cruz, Santa Rosa, Carmel, Livermore, Napa, Half Moon Bay, Cupertino, Monterey, Vacaville, and Watsonville. Uber riders in these cities can use the code CAFIRE2020 to claim free rides with UberX and Uber XL.*
  • Free meals for first responders: We know that firefighters and first responders have been working tirelessly for days on end. That is why we have committed to provide 2,000 free meals on Uber Eats via various fire departments and other organizations.
  • Delivery of essential goods: Uber Freight is donating the logistics costs of hauling essential goods including food, water, and medical supplies to food banks and other facilities. We will move these loads for free to get these goods to those who need it the most.

Our team continues to work hard to support the communities affected by these ongoing tragic events. We’ll keep monitoring the situation in the upcoming days and may adapt the list of cities as needed.

*2 rides up to $25 per ride to/from areas impacted for a total of up to $50 per rider.
